April 2019 President's Letter
All,

We are approaching the end of the 2018-2019 term, and I would like to thank all of you who were able to participated in our survey at last month’s luncheon. For those of you who were not able to attend and have a few moments to give us some feedback, you can find the survey HERE. For the April luncheon we are extremely excited to welcome Dr. Robert Stewart, President of the SEG BOD, to our luncheon where he will be discussing the State of Geophysics. Please take a moment now to register for the Thursday April 18th luncheon!

DISC is coming to Dallas! June 20th, 2019, we will be hosting Manika Prasad and her course Physics and Mechanics of Rocks: A Practical Approach. Registration and more details can be found HERE. The course will be at Royal Oaks with breakfast and lunch being served. I would like to thank our 2nd VP Fielding Pitman with the planning and scheduling allowing us to bring the DISC Course to Dallas.

Also, UTD will be having geoscience faculty candidates visiting and giving 2 talks each week. The dates and details are located HERE. Dr. Lumley would like to remind our membership they are welcome to attend and is open to the public. The talks will be held at UTD at the ROC building.

Finally, at our last luncheon we were informed of the passing of Robert Graebner. Bob has been part of our society for many years and has influenced so many in the DWF area as many of you know personally. He was World War II Veteran, had a lifelong career in geophysics, and will be missed by many in our community. His obituary may be found here.

Regards,

Nicolas Bongiovanni
