This by from 2014 has recently been acquired for a corporate client. This piece was part of the group exhibition WHITE NOISE at Circuit12 back in 2014. Josh Reames’s work considers abstraction and painting in relation to the Internet, and is informed by the strange, new space where a majority of viewership takes place online through blogs and websites. In these paintings, depth, dimension, and the artist's hand are typically lost in translation from object to image, allowing the information to exist as it might appear on a digital screen. Reames' conceptual framework functions as a kind of filtration device for cultural byproduct and its attending relativism, literally flattening a compendium of signs, text and symbols, cultural objects and icons to the same-level composition—thereby removing their hierarchy. This painting from 2015 has recently been acquired for a corporate client. James Collins is known for minimalist op art and abstract works that are created through various processes he has developed with custom tools. Producing gestural abstract paintings that evoke chemistry and chance, Collins considers his artistic process a chemical experience. Relying on the nature of oil and acrylic paints to repel in their fluid states, Collins creates a “catalytic event as the different mediums repel each other momentarily." Of this event he says, "in this regard the painting itself dictates the outcome. There is no room for error. If the chemistry is off, the painting has to be destroyed and I start over”.
