Husband, Dad, "Pop Pop" Mentor; soon SEVEN grandchildren under SIX!
“When I paint I feel His pleasure”.
🌅I am a husband to a wonderful wife and a dad to three amazing adult children with awesome spouses. Most importantly these days, I am a Pop Pop to four (soon to be five!) grandchildren. In 2018, I almost died when I suffered a massive heart attack while driving into Atlanta, GA. with my wife to
celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. As I was driving I told my wife that something was happening in my chest, so we quickly stopped and traded seats. Despite the heavy Atlanta traffic, we were only five minutes away from the only hospital in the region with a 24-hour cath lab. I coded twice that night while a huge team of people worked to save my life, and I am grateful to God for a second chance at life. I have a master’s degree, but never in my life took an art course. In fact, I hadn’t touched a brush and put paint on canvas until a few years ago when I retired from a career spent serving people in the local church. When I retired, I added “learning to paint” to my bucket list purely on a whim to see if I might like it. It turns out I did! After leaving the only work I had known for fifty years, I was able to attend about five classes with my (now) artistic hero, Millie Gosch, before COVID began and we could no longer meet. Millie and others had looked at what I did and were very encouraging and said some kind things about my first attempts that spurred me on to continue. After moving back to Orlando in 2021 where we raised our kids, and recovering from open heart surgery and one other surgery, months turned into almost a year with no painting. Finally I started back and began posting my work on Facebook, and before I knew it people were asking if it was for sale. In the summer of 2023 I was invited to have my work displayed as the solo artist in an art gallery in Atlanta, and I sold almost half of my work. They have invited me back for next year. Now I am hard at work painting things that inspire me and I find beautiful and meaningful. I’m excited about the future and would love to have you join me on this adventure. To keep up with what I’m doing and the art I’m creating, please join my email list. I look forward to getting to know you!
