Dear Art Community & Friends!

After several conversations with God, I decided to ask for help with what we have endured with the person who has been vandalizing the gallery, and what could be done to prevent it from happening again and ensure everyone is safe. I’m not one to ask for help, but in order to continue providing a safe space for everyone to engage, explore and interact with art freely, certain measures must take place to remain in business. The struggles as an entrepreneur probably aren’t being addressed on these platforms, because we want to show the “good side,” and although there are more great things happening than bad, the truth of the matter is, the business I have is not your everyday item you get at home goods or target. It comes with a lot more investment and capital to amplify the voices of the artists I represent. There is no Board of Directors, Investors, wealthy patrons that raise MILLIONS of dollars for Daisha Board Gallery. Everything I have is been self funded and reinvested into the business, but as the current situation unfolds I’m at my wits end. I feel like this person who is clearly suffering from extreme manic episodes is ultimately affecting my ability to ensure there’s a safe space to see and acquire art. I need your help. We have set up a GoFundMe in efforts to upgrade our security system, fix the damages and improve our parking lot with lights and cameras.

I’m being completely transparent, if I can’t implement these improvements, then I will more than likely close the gallery until further notice.

Dear Art Community,

I hope this letter finds you in good spirits and high creativity. As we reach the midpoint of the year, I want to take a moment to reflect on our journey and share some important updates with you.

The first two quarters of this year have been challenging for Daisha Board Gallery. Despite our best efforts and the incredible talent on display, we have faced a slower-than-expected start. However, it is in these times that our perseverance and passion for the arts shine the brightest. We need your support now more than ever to keep our doors open and to continue being a beacon for underrepresented artists.

As a Black woman entrepreneur, I am no stranger to the unique challenges that come with this path. From securing funding to gaining visibility in a competitive market, the obstacles can feel insurmountable. However, I am also acutely aware of the incredible impact that we have for the City of Dallas! Our contribution is undeniable.

Your support is not just appreciated; it is vital. By visiting our gallery, purchasing artwork, and sharing our mission with others, you help sustain a space where underrepresented voices can flourish. Together, we can overcome the challenges and continue to make a lasting impact in the art world.

Through techniques such as collage and applique, Lechuga creates poignant scenes that reflect his personal experience of surviving gun violence in Dallas and address the ongoing crises of human migration along the Texas/Mexico border

Cloaked in Flesh, Boundless in Spirit," where Narong's 2nd-Generation Thai￾American heritage, Q***r identity, Buddhist spirituality, and science background converge in a vibrant exploration of self and ancestry.

Born in Dallas, TX, he lived in Bangkok, Thailand, for a decade. He obtained his biology undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Dallas with a minor in visual arts in 2014. He is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Drawing from the University of North Texas.

Cloaked in Flesh, Boundless in Spirit" is an exhibition that explores alternative methods of visualizing ancestry by abstracting traditional Thai textile patterns into familial tablets. Narong Tintamusik employs digital tools such as Adobe Illustrator and laser cutting technology to transform photographs of his mother’s clothing into futuristic medical illustrations infused with spiritual and biological elements. Embedding cultural data into instruments provides a glimpse nto unseen realms beyond ordinary human perception

"In Survival, Death and Home" - an Artwork of Resilience and Remembrance

A Friday in the summer, just like any other, transformed forever. Today, I share a snapshot not just of a place, but of a moment that redefined Antonio Lechuga's life. Pictured here is the exact spot on the Santa Fe Trail in East Dallas, where his peaceful run on a scorching 106-degree day was shattered by gunfire.

The calm of the trail, where the yellow fence meets the trees, became the site of his trauma when he was shot twice in the abdomen. This image captures the serenity before the storm, a stark contrast to the violence that ensued.

In "A Friday in the Summer, a Friday Like Any Other," he encapsulated this harrowing experience using the medium of applique textile on a cobija blanket. But it's not just a blanket; it's a canvas where the pain, the survival, and the collective memory of his community are woven together.

"Every day Since" reflects the unyielding rage that fuels Antonio each day since the incident. Another cobija, the same size, becomes the backdrop for his emotions, a daily reminder of the moment his life was almost cut short.

Antonio Lechuga's latest works go beyond personal narrative to touch on shared experiences of endurance and the thin line between life and death. Through the deconstruction of cobijas, a staple in Latinx homes, he crafts stories that connect his own brush with mortality to the broader, ongoing crises of human migration at the Texas/Mexico border.

These pieces are not just art; they're patchworks of resilience, a blend of tradition and modernity that offer comfort and provoke thought. Antonio redefines an everyday Latinx symbol into a vessel for dialogue and healing, honoring those who face the perilous journey of migration and those who find themselves in the crossfire of unforeseen violence.

About Last Night 🙏🏾

Having a "seat at the table" symbolizes being given a fair opportunity to participate and have one's voice heard in spaces where decisions are made, discussions are held, and recognition is granted. For Black artists and Black gallerists, who have historically faced underrepresentation, this phrase takes on a poignant significance. It's about breaking through barriers that have long been established by an elite few who gatekeep the realms of art and its appreciation, often relegating it to the realms of privilege.

Being invited to exclusive art dinners, where the energy is palpable and the celebration of art is genuine, is a transformative experience. It's in these gatherings, like the one celebrating the exceptional talents of artists like Xavier Edward Carter and Tabatha Trolli, that one can find the essence of what art should be about: connection, appreciation, and community. The space itself becomes a testimony to artistic expression—the entrance setting, the stage, the music weaving the mood, the art commanding attention, and the guests contributing to the vibrant tapestry of the evening.

Such environments stand in stark contrast to the pretentiousness often encountered in the art world. Instead of feeling like an outsider, these immersive experiences bring forth immense joy and a sense of belonging among individuals who are not just present but engaged and connected. It's the authenticity and the raw appreciation of talent that draws people together, not the exclusivity.

As a Black entrepreneur and woman, having a seat at the table isn't just about physical presence; it's about being heard, seen, appreciated, and supported on equal footing with peers. It's about being able to make a living and care for one's own without sacrificing one's identity, purpose, or dimming one's light. The willingness to make adjustments for the betterment of the business is a testament to resilience and dedication, but never at the cost of losing oneself.

This is your reminder to NEVER dim your light to fit one's version of who YOU should be! Tell them to put on shades, specifically ‼️💯🕶

BAND OF VICES ANNOUNCES THE SOLO EXHIBITION DEBUT OF JEREMY BIGGERS IN LOS ANGELES, CA, CURATED BY DAISHA BOARD, Dallas-based gallery

LOS ANGELES - Band of Vices is pleased to present "be safe out there bro", a deeply-provocative and highly-charged new series of works by Dallas-based artist Jeremy Biggers.

Some variation of "be safe out there bro" has become a standard farewell amongst a number of Black men. It's become so standard I don't think we even realize we're saying it anymore. It's a succinct mutual acknowledgment that the world we move through is
unwelcoming. And by virtue of us both being Black men, "I have your well-being in mind." So when you leave this moment, do what you have to do to keep yourself and your family safe. Do what you need to do to make it back home tonight. Make decisions
that protects yourself.

"be safe out there bro" is as much a command as it is pleading with someone to take care of themselves because you care. Whether you are both strangers or they are one of your loved ones, you both understand that you're part of a fraternity, and there are
experiences you both share, that no one else does.
For as many external forces as there may be, "be safe out there bro" is a reminder to keep your guard up at
all times, even and especially when the person trying to hurt you is yourself. For as seemingly small of a phrase as it is, it's a reminder that in this
moment. this exact moment right here, someone else is thinking of you and your well-being.

Antonio Lechuga (b. 1985) is known for his unique blend of art, design, architecture, and social commentary. His work dissects and celebrates the
Tejano culture, grappling with the complexities of identity and the erasure of history in the current political environment. An alum of the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) in Los Angeles, CA, and El Centro College in
Dallas, TX, Antonio has honed his craft and vision through a robust combination of academic rigor and personal exploration.

"Survival, Death and Home" represents an intimate and powerful commentary on the dualities of the human experience, especially within the context of the Mexican-American communities in Texas. By manipulating cobija blankets—items steeped in Latinx tradition—into collages and appliqués, Lechuga builds vivid narratives that explore themes of endurance, migration, and the human condition.
This exhibition is particularly poignant as it draws from Lechuga's personal ordeal with gun violence, as well as the broader issues of human migration at the Texas/Mexico border. The works serve as a testament to the resilience
