Hi all -

We are pleased to announce that our next Double M Jazz Salon will be held on Sunday afternoon, November 6, at the Mayme Clayton Library and Museum in Culver City.

It will feature "Jassemblage," a sextet of some of our finest artists lead by pianist Theo Saunders. (Be sure to check out his website: www.theosaunders.com and listen to some of his stuff. Fabulous pianist!) His sextet will include: Louis Van Taylor, alto; Chuck Manning, tenor; George Bohanon, trombone; Henry "The Skipper" Franklin, bass; and Kendall Kay, drums.

The second annual Mimi Melnick Double M Award for Young Jazz Talent, a grant of $2,000, will also be presented.

Doors open at 12:30 p.m. At 1:00 p.m., Theo will discuss his life and career in an informal Q&A with jazz historian Jeffrey Winston. The first of two sets will begin at 2:00 p.m.
