Tomorrow is June 1st and that marks 6 months since a radical.change left me as sole, retaining owner of this incredibly special place tucked away in a corner of Culpeper.

They say time flies when you're having fun and it is so true! Wasn't it just Christmas? New Years?

In the past 6 months we've evolved and grown. Several new artists have joined the Collective and I'm happy to say most of those who were already here, are still here. We've seen some come and some go, and are awaiting a couple to start up in coming weeks.

The art is immensely captivating. From the fine art, all authentically original to the artist, to beautiful functional art, all expertly handcrafted. Most pieces is created by someone local to Culpeper, if not in Virginia, with some other American-made artisans' wares and those made from Fair Trade artisans as well.

We have Nurture-a sensory experience dedicated to offering a space wherein you may relax and find fun fidgets, feel good bath and body soaps, scrubs, steamers, and more, and therapy dough!

We're working incredibly hard to bring other experiences in, in our studio-classroom space. Our goal is to offer art and craft classes for all levels of creative ability, and also to have a space where you may gather for your own business or organization needs.

I'd say we have bloomed. We're looking forward to the next six months and more.

Today, our downtown community experienced a devastating fire that has impacted both Zandra's Taqueria, Culpeper Machine & Supply Co and other businesses.

We are incredibly grateful that no injuries have been reported and that the swift actions of the Culpeper Fire Department, emergency responders, law enforcement, and supporting agencies helped protect lives and prevent further damage.

Our thoughts are with the owners, employees, customers, and families connected to these beloved downtown businesses. They have contributed to the character, vibrancy, and economic vitality of Downtown Culpeper, and we know this loss will be felt throughout our community.

Culpeper has always been a resilient and compassionate town. In the days and weeks ahead, we encourage our community to continue showing the support, kindness, and encouragement that make Culpeper such a special place.

On behalf of Culpeper Renaissance, we stand with everyone affected and remain committed to supporting our downtown business community as recovery efforts move forward.

We're praying for the Zandra's Taqueria team as they recover from the fire that claimed their building.

Update @ 3:15p.m.
All first responders have cleared the area and the road is reopened. We appreciate everyone’s patience.

We have a winner! Through a lot of trial and error we've developed a fun project for an upcoming resin and laser cut wood panel workshop. Date and time TBD. Be on the lookout!

I had the pleasure of attending one of Nicole Weston's Restore Peace Painting Retreats single sessions this evening and I am hooked!

Nicole provides all that's needed to sit alongside her pond, canvas on easel, supplies at your side, to paint while letting go of the *noise*.

This is the piece I created while finding peace within and it is called "Erosion ". I used acrylics, a balloon, a continuous mister with water and my hands.

Even when erosion happens, beautiful scenes may be left behind. Just look.

Ladies, if you're in need of a peaceful retreat, check out Nicole. No art experience necessary, just the need for cutting out the noise.
