She has worked at the Grotto for four years now. Her role is primarily in sales and customer service in the gift shop!

She has been married to her husband, Mark, for 50 years. She has a son and two grandchildren. She loves gardening, reading, cooking and going to the beach!🏖️

It’s Meet the Staff Monday again, and it’s Debra Lee this week!!!

Debra has worked at the Grotto since 1999! She works in the gift shop and her main role is ordering products and providing customer service.

She loves to garden, decorate, paint AND going to the beach! She has 3 kids and 5 grandkids that keep her busy! She also has been married to her husband, John Lee, for 40 years!!

We welcome back Catherine Lee to help us with our up coming busy Christmas season! She works at a local health care facility and is a mom of one. She teaches 4th grade Sunday school and LOVES animals!

What a day for Cullman tourism! 🎉🧡
We’re celebrating several exciting honors from the 2026 PEAK Awards:
✨ Ave Maria Grotto was named Attraction of the Year, a wonderful recognition for one of Cullman’s most unique and treasured attractions.
✨ Visit Cullman Executive Director Harmony Heard Steed and Sen. Garlan Gudger Jr. were honored with the String of Pearls for Leadership, recognizing their impact and commitment to tourism and our region.
✨ Visit Cullman Marketing Manager Delaine Van D**e received a scholarship for Year Two of Southeast Tourism Society Marketing College.
We’re proud to see Cullman represented through these honors and grateful for the people and partnerships helping tourism continue to grow in our community.

Ave Maria Grotto would like to thank the Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association (AMLA) for honoring the Grotto as the 2026 Attraction of the Year!

This recognition couldn’t have happened without our dedicated staff and the incredible support of the Cullman County Tourism Bureau, Cullman Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism, and Cullman County Parks and Recreation.

Most importantly, we want to give our biggest thanks to our visitors, who continue to come back year after year and make Ave Maria Grotto so special. We are incredibly thankful for each and every one of you!
