🚨 Ever wondered where the term "Red Light District" actually comes from? 🚨

If these walls could talk, they’d tell you that history isn't always quiet—sometimes it glows red! 💡✨

During the late 19th-century boomtown days, railroad workers and miners often left their red signal lanterns outside the brothels while visiting. This gave passersby—and strict railroad bosses—a clear sign that a trainman was "busy" inside!

Another popular origin comes from the red lamps or curtains placed in parlor house windows to signal to patrons from the street. Whatever the exact spark, the phrase became world-famous for brothel and adult entertainment districts—and Cripple Creek’s own Myers Avenue was one of the most famous in the West!

The Old Homestead, built in 1896 by Pearl DeVere, stood right at the heart of it all as the grandest brothel in town.
