The Elk Mountain Lodge is hosting a grand re-opening, but when tragedy strikes, the picturesque event takes a sinister turn, trapping guests within the elegant timber halls.
Step into a night of mystery and scandal hosted by the CB Museum and CB Mountain Theatre. An interactive Murder Mystery Party, you and your friends become part of the story and solve the murder before the killer strikes again in an evening of drinks, intrigue, twists and turns!

Frank Orazem, a co-founder of Vinotok, was a miner from the age of 13 and a deeply devout Catholic. Known for his wood carvings and walking sticks, Frank was always “seeing” figures in wood. One day, when leaving the mine, the alpenglow on the mountainside reflected the image of a woman in profile, a “Red Lady” that Frank believed was the Divine Feminine. In addition to being credited for nicknaming Mount Emmons, Frank once gave Marcie Telander a special stick he made to carry our community’s stories, a responsibility carries to this day.

The Frank Orazem Memorial Storytelling night takes place at the Crested Butte Museum on Tuesday, September 15 at 7:30pm.

Call us history students! We spent three days diving into the true stories that helped build the towns of Redstone, Crystal, and Marble.

From exploring the Redstone coke ovens and town, to morning lectures with Dr. Duane Vandenbusche, to sharing lunch and stories with Crystal resident and author Roger Neal, and visiting the Marble quarry with former VP Kimberly — we had the opportunity to learn from some of the people who know these communities best.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, shared their stories, and helped us uncover a little more of Colorado’s fascinating history. We loved having you along for the journey!
