We wanted to take a moment to really hone in on the process and creative narrative of these special sculptures created by Yane.
These are currently available and can be implemented into a new build as a backsplash centerpiece in a beautiful bar or shower tile display or even having nail holes sculpted in that can hang in an intimate space for viewing.
We don’t carry much if ever any sculpture medium but we are in love with these tiles and their versatility with regard to design and are honored to represent them and the artist.

Yane’s Creative process:
I create my relief sculptures by combining and blending different clays, forming a unique clay body. The design is roughly sketched out on paper before I scribe the outlines of my motif directly on a thickly rolled out clay slab. During a more intuitive sculpting process, the more finalised design and sculptural depth is established by carving, cutting, and removing the clay mass from the slab with handmade wire loops and wooden modelling tools. When the desired plains are achieved, I tighten up the clay by polishing the motifs with a soft rag and differently textured brushes. The clay reliefs are being left to fully dry out before kiln firing them slowly. The final bisque fired pieces are finished off by adding gold leafing or other materials like mother-of-pearl inlays, to complement the pastel hues of the sculptures and convey the narrative of the pieces.
Yane’s Creative influences:
My work is influenced by the public works of socialist art collectives from the former German Democratic Republic. Especially Walter Womacka, Ernst Barlach, Kaethe Kollwitz, and the Mexican sculptor Octavio Medellin had a profound impact on my visual language. Being surrounded by multi coloured murals, plaster reliefs and bronze sculptures during my upbringing in Berlin, has heavily inspired my creative practice today.
