Meshanticut Park Fire Company's Engine 7, a 1955 Ford Farrar. It was in service 1955-1973 when it was totaled in a no-fault accident with minor injuries at the intersection of Oaklawn Avenue and Dean Parkway in Cranston, RI. It was replaced by a 18 year old 1955 open-cab Ford that was purchased from the Roslyn Highlands, N.Y. Fire Department. The Ford was later designated E-17. TS

The Auburn Fire Company, organized in 1897 was located on Doric Ave. in the Auburn section of Cranston. It’s believed the company absorbed the Mashpaug Fire Company…evident by the lettering on the badge pictured. The Company operated a horse-drawn ‘hand tub.’ In 1908, a steel wheel from a locomotive was obtained to be used as a gong to alert volunteers of a fire, it was placed on top of the fire station and a striker with a rope was attached. By 1909 the Company consisted of an Engine Co., a Hose Co., and a Hook and Ladder Co. In 1915 the Company received its first motorized fire truck. In 1929 they sold their apparatus to the Charlestown-Richmond Fire Co., ceased fire operations, and became a social organization. TS
