The Washunga Intertribal Powwow is at the Kaw Mission on June 21 and 22. Come join us on Friday from 6:30 pm to 10 pm for the powwow. And don't miss the parade on Saturday, Hiebert's Dulcimers, Native American Flute Player, beautiful watercolor paintings by Arthur Shortbull, and the powwow on Saturday Evening.

Don't miss the last Kaw Council this year, The Santa fe Trail and the Civil War. Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Presented by Lee E. Oliva, Santa Fe Trail historian. Related events on the Santa Fe Trail will be highlighted, including Bleeding Kansas conflicts, battles, and an analysis of the "war within a war" between the U.S. government and the Plains Indians.

Investigating the Blue Earth Village Site
Sunday, February 10, 2:00 pm
Blue Earth Village was a large Kaw Nation community in southwest Pottawatomie County in the early 1800s. Dr. Donna Roper will present an update on the investigations and research conducted at the site. Presentation immediately follows the annual general membership meeting of the Friends of Kaw Heritage, Inc.
