Mount St. Helens from the NE side early 19oos colorized photo postcard. They hadn't figured out the exact altitude of the mountain which was later measured at 9,677 feet. This is near where Donnybrook & Meta Lake are and an old forest logging road later named FR100 then paved to become FR99 originally rutted and graveled ran off FR25-FR90 which runs by Yale Lake & Swift Reservoir, a windy two lane road that goes from Cougar to Morton/ Randle and one of the most beautiful scenic roads in the entire USA, remote and lots of old growth forest between Mount Adams & Mount St. Helens. The outlet of Spirit Lake/ N Fork Toutle River on the SW corner of the lake with Harry Truman's Starlight Cafe/ boat storage house, and what is amazing it was taken on the afternoon of May 17, 1980, photographer unknown but was able to visit Harry that afternoon likely when the convoy approved by the State of Washington & Dixie Lee Ray Washington's Governor, was able to visit Harry before the 5 pm es**rt out. Just amazing and a matter of hours later the entire N side of Mount St. Helens slid down destroying all of Harry Truman's 50+ years of work in a matter of minutes. MSHB1980

Mount St. Helens from summer 1913, amazing a photo like this exists especially in such clarity. To get there 113 years ago was a very long rough journey which took days, and absolutely worth it, so beautiful to see! MSHB1980
