Films like Nosferatu (2024), Frankenstein (2025), and Wuthering Heights (2026) have renewed interest in mourning and other Victorian-era customs and rituals. The exhibit Death Becomes Her: Women’s Mourning Dress, 1860 to 1919 is a collaboration between the College of Business’s Historic and Cultural Textile & Apparel Collection and the Corvallis Museum that examines mourning dress of the late 19th and early 20th century. The dress objects feature garments from different stages of mourning, hair art, and photographs of mourning rituals from Benton County residents. Death Becomes Her is now on exhibit in the Fred & Mary Brauti Gallery at the, Corvallis Museum through September 20. https://bentoncountymuseums.org/exhibits/death-becomes-her/
