Meet June’s ArtShop Featured Artist: Rhoda Fleischman ✨

For Rhoda Fleischman, working with clay has always felt natural. As a child, she made small clay pots and left them in the sun to bake, already imagining a future shaped by creativity and making.

Today, Rhoda continues exploring the endless possibilities of clay while also embracing painting as another creative outlet. Describing the process as “magic conjuring up images seemingly from the air,” her work reflects a lifelong curiosity, imagination, and joy for creating by hand.

Rhoda’s work carries a sense of warmth, exploration, and personal storytelling that invites viewers to slow down and connect with the handmade process behind each piece.

Stop by the ArtShop to explore Rhoda’s work alongside handcrafted creations by local artists and makers from across our region.

“These spaces allow children to be seen and recognized, which is very important for their confidence.”

Those are the words of Jeremiah’s mom, reflecting on his experience participating in this year’s Howland Community OPEN at The Arts Center, where he received the Youth People’s Choice Award.

Creative opportunities do more than teach artistic skills. They help young people build confidence, share their ideas, take creative risks, and feel supported by their community.

At The Arts Center, we see this impact every day through exhibitions, classes, workshops, and programs that encourage people of all ages to explore their creativity and connect with others.

Your support helps make experiences like Jeremiah’s possible.

Jeremiah is a 10-year-old young artist who participated in this year’s Howland Community OPEN and received the Youth People’s Choice Award.

Like so many young creatives, Jeremiah found a space at The Arts Center to share his work, be seen, and feel encouraged by his community.

Throughout our Spring Appeal, we’ll be sharing more of Jeremiah’s story and highlighting the impact community arts spaces can have on young people and families across our region.

When you support The Arts Center, you help make moments like these possible.

Benton County's Solid Waste Program Coordination wants you to know what happens to the clothes you "donate" 👀

The Frimpong Case, a new exhibition at The Arts Center in Corvallis has the answer. It might surprise you. Artist Vincent Frimpong uses textiles shipped from the U.S. to Africa as "donations" to create powerful work that confronts fast fashion, disposability, and the real cost our consumption puts on communities abroad.

The Corvallis Sustainability Coalition Waste Prevention Action Team is partnering with The ArtsCenter in Corvallis on events that go beyond the gallery:

• Mending Skills Workshops (Unlocking Art): May 26, June 6 & June 30
• FREE Clothing Swap: June 27, 12–5 PM in the Main Gallery

Come curious. Leave inspired. Make your wardrobe last.

This week’s Corvallis Chamber Greeters was a great reminder of what can happen when creativity, community, education, and business share the same space.

We were thrilled to welcome Oregon State University freshman marketing students to The Arts Center as they presented their businesses and ideas to local professionals and community members. It was exciting to see students explore new ideas, create meaningful connections, and experience what it feels like to belong within a supportive and engaged community.

Thank you to the Corvallis Chamber of Commerce, Stephen Hodges, and all of the students who filled our space with curiosity, conversation, and entrepreneurial energy.
