Some Q&A about our upcoming class using the horsehair or raku technique:
Q: What exactly will we be doing?
A: Javier and Paul will have several pieces of pottery ready to decorate. There will be an instruction period for each technique. For the horsehair pots, we take them hot out of the kiln and show you how to use natural elements such as hair, feathers, grasses, etc to make beautiful designs on them. For the raku pots, you will glaze them, let them dry and then put them in the outside kiln. They come out very hot and we add them to combustible materials such as shredded paper which catches fire and makes a unique design on each piece of pottery.
Q: Where will this class be held?
A: It will be held outside at Pottery by the Creek, 13063 432nd St, Carson, IA (Master Potter, Paul Koch's studio)
Q: What time slots are left and how do I sign up? There are some slots left on Saturday, October 17th from 9:30-12:30 or 1:00-4:00. There are slots left on Sunday during the same times. You need to shoot only one timeframe. You can sign up by calling 641-322-4549.
