Hi all!
I enjoyed drawing First Baptist Church this week, the video I shared this past Tuesday. It was an unplanned experience this week. I absolutely love walking up on something that just takes me by surprise. I’ve seen that church millions of times in my life but have never paid much attention to its beauty, until walking around to find that perfect landscape to paint clouds. When I walked by it was perfect!! Only when I started drawing it out, I just kept drawing. I was just taken by the architectural beauty of it. It was an unexpected surprise for me. I enjoyed drawing this so much! ❤️

I thought I would share another drawing that captivated me. I’m sharing a drawing of the “Bishop’s Castle” I did this one a little over 20 years ago. The landscape has change a bit since then, as it was hit by a hurricane not too long after I drew it.

Someone sent me a question about a pet portrait via messenger. For some reason I can’t get my messenger to work right and I can’t reply to it. But this person is not the only one asking about this same painting. So I’ll share it and tell you all about it.

This is a portrait of “Sweet Belle”
Belle was my sweet little Shih Tzu. We had Belle for a little over 15 years. She sadly passed away about three years ago. This little portrait I painted of her has gained a lot of fascination with many people. So much so, her portrait has even appeared as a play prop in Nashville and gain even more popularity. Which is fitting for Belle, as she absolutely loved attention from everyone she met. She was always center of attention everywhere she went. And we traveled with her all the time!

“Sweet Belle” is an oil and is 16x20 inches and is in a thick heavy portrait gallery frame. It is one of the most popular portrait paintings I have ever done. I am constantly being asked to sell but my sweet Belle could never be sold. She is one of the most precious little dogs I have ever owned and her portrait will remain in my personal collection.

I do commissions of about anything you might want done. Portraits are my most popular commissioned art, that I do. Both people and pets.

I decided to go out on an adventure! I went to do some quick watercolor studies being the clouds were so beautiful. But…. As you know me … I got distracted by historical places as I walked around downtown Corinth. The First Baptist Church was so pretty with its beautiful blue and cloudy sky backdrop that I decided to draw instead!
I’ll apologize for the not so great video, as I was drawing one handed, while videoing with the other. I’m not so sure where I’m going with this drawing from here. Painting it maybe?? Or I don’t know… I just enjoy the experience of drawing First Baptist Church for now.

Sorry there wasn’t a video this week. I’ve been out of the studio, but I have lots more to come!
