"I grew up on a horse farm in the hills of Tennessee. The horses were my earliest teachers — steady, intuitive presences that shaped my inner life long before I had language for it. Their sensitivity to human emotion stirred something profound in me and led me to photograph them for over thirty years. Over time, my process evolved from traditional darkroom techniques and hand-tinting to digital layering and image manipulation. Each piece is built by merging multiple photographs into a single unified image — a visual translation of the energy I feel in their presence. Equus is about essence. About relationship. About the unseen exchange between human and animal that alters us both." — Christine Patterson
