Introducing Emerging Artist-in-Residence Izzy McRoberts!

Izzy McRoberts

Izzy joined us in early September and will spend 11 months at Pocosin leading community classes, expanding their practice, assisting in general campus operations and being an integral part of our 2027 Summer On-Campus workshops. Izzy McRoberts is an east coast artist and an active member of the broader Craft community. McRoberts completed a BFA in Craft and Material Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2026. After moving around the country throughout their youth, Izzy’s work now focuses on universal experiences of hurt, healing, and change. With a background in illustration, their works use imagery of human anatomy and subtle gore to facilitate both confrontation and connection. McRoberts’s interactive work combines both sculpture and function through woodworking/ furniture design with occasional fiber, metal, and found object accents. Izzy has shown work in galleries including Alma’s Gallery , Black Iris Social Club , and Art Works where they were awarded 2nd in show. They recently completed a 2026 Summer Workshop Assistantship with the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship before coming to Pocosin.

Introducing Emerging Artist-in-Residence Madeleine Adair!

Madeleine joined us in early September and will spend 11 months at Pocosin leading community classes, expanding her practice, assisting in general campus operations and being an integral part of our 2027 Summer On-Campus workshops. She is an artist and art educator from Denver, CO. She graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver in May 2026 with a BFA in Art Education, where she focused on jewelry/non-ferrous metalworking and ceramics. Madeleine sees teaching as an extension of her own art-making practice; her work in both fields focuses on themes of belonging, reciprocity, and acts of care and community. In the classroom, she aims to create spaces where students of all ages feel seen, supported, and challenged to develop their own creative voice and make connections to the world they live in.

BIG NEWS! Next Friday, October 2, our on-campus workshops for Summer 2027 will be available for preview on our website. We have an amazing lineup of 30+ immersive learning experiences in metals, ceramics, wood and special topics. Stay tuned!

Our 2027 on-campus workshop scholarship and studio assistant applications open on November 2! Full and partial scholarships are available for all workshops and select studio assistantships per studio. Join us next summer for a learning experience of a life time!
