Something beautiful is unfolding at the Montminy Gallery.

Opening August 19, "In the Fold: Fiber Art Journals" features handmade accordion-fold journals created by members of the Missouri Fiber Artists (MoFA). Over the course of a year, artists explored themes like growth, resilience, and personal reflection through embroidery, weaving, quilting, appliqué, felting, and other fiber art techniques.

Each journal tells a unique story, inviting visitors to slow down, look closely, and discover the expressive possibilities of fiber art.

With 31 regional artists, we’ve only shared a glimpse of the incredible work in this exhibition.

At the opening reception, co-curator Jo Stealey noted that there is ample room for each of us to find meaning and delight in the artwork created specifically for this exhibition.

The exhibition is on view for just over one more week, through Saturday, August 8, and is open during regular gallery hours. We encourage you to plan your visit and experience these diverse interpretations of Tea Time firsthand.

A few weeks ago, we celebrated the opening of Tea Time at The Montminy Gallery.

Co-curator Robin LaBrunerie introduced the exhibition as a reflection on tea time as warmth, community, hospitality, and beauty. Featuring work by 31 regional artists, the exhibition invites visitors to explore many interpretations of a shared ritual and the small moments that shape it.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the opening reception and helped make it such a meaningful start to the show.

Tea Time remains on view through August 8 at the Boone County History & Culture Center.
