Another oval piece with some jarring colors. At first I thought the black and pink checkers clashed with the orange but then I think that’s what I ended up liking about it. Color relationships all day over here.

This piece is also on view at till May 17 in the exhibition By Hand and Machine.

Step inside the creative process 👀🎨

Join us at 701 CCA for an Open Studio with Artist in Residence Katelyn Chapman—a chance to experience art as it’s being made.

Katelyn’s work draws from her deep roots in the rural South, exploring working-class life, memory, and tradition through rich storytelling and oil painting. (701CCA)

During this open studio, you’re invited to drop in, see what she’s working on in real time, and connect directly with the artist. It’s a rare opportunity to go beyond the finished piece and into the heart of the creative process.

✨ Free & open to the public

My newest weaving is in the exhibition By Hand and Machine at . The show is on view through May 17. On May 11 there’s going to be a zoom pa el discussion with the artists and if you’d like to join DM and I’ll send an rsvp link.

One thing that is new about this piece is that I’ve added a little d-ring as a connector in the center left. That’s led to lots of new playful things in the studio and to me making rings like that out of clay. From this piece there’s a lot of cool and interesting pieces in the works with this new element.
