Last week, board members—new and old—got a special sneak peek of the newest exhibition at the Columbia Museum of Art, featuring the powerful work of Rodney McMillian.

It felt especially meaningful to see this exhibition come full circle. In 2022, the Contemporaries helped acquire two of McMillian’s works for the museum’s collection—bringing them home. Seeing them now as part of a larger, fully realized exhibition is something special.

And now, we want you to be part of it.

✨ We’re popping up at upcoming First Thursdays to bring our members together and get more involved:
• April 2 — Happy hour on Boyd Plaza at 530 PM + guided tour of the McMillian exhibition at 6:30 PM
• May 7 — A chance to connect with some of our board and community, especially if you’re interested in joining the board!
• June 4 — Annual meeting to get plugged in and see what’s ahead.

We’re also accepting resumes for new board members for the 2026–2027 term. If you’re passionate about the arts and want to play a bigger role in shaping this community, we’d love to meet you.
