The Boone County History & Culture Center, home of the Boone County Historical Society Since 1924 that has been our mission.

Incredible truths arise when we provide space for art and history to coexist. As the only cultural center of its kind focused solely on preserving local heritage, we use our 4,500 square feet of exhibits, the expansive Montminy Art Gallery, the beloved 1877 Maplewood House and more to evaluate our past and help set a new course for the future.

The Boone County History Makers Hall of Fame Gala is just one day away! We look forward to gathering tomorrow evening to honor Carl Edwards, Wendy Noren, and the Boone County Community Trust for their lasting contributions to our community.

The evening also supports the work of the Boone County History & Culture Center, from bringing art and history to life through The Montminy Gallery to preserving historic photographs, caring for our collections, and creating educational experiences for future generations.

We’re grateful to everyone supporting this special evening. Your generosity helps ensure Boone County’s stories continue to be preserved and shared.

✨ Celebrating Carl Edwards ✨

From Columbia, Missouri, to the highest levels of NASCAR, Carl Edwards has made his mark on the world of motorsports.

With 72 career victories across NASCAR’s three national series, a 2007 Xfinity Series championship, and induction into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2025, Edwards has built an extraordinary racing legacy. His achievements have brought national recognition to his hometown, making him a fitting addition to the Boone County History Makers Hall of Fame.

This year, we’re proud to celebrate Carl Edwards as one of our 2026 Hall of Fame honorees. Congratulations, Carl!

Since its founding in 1974, the Boone County Community Trust has helped strengthen our region through long-term charitable giving and support for local organizations. ✨ Celebrating Wendy Noren ✨

For nearly four decades, Wendy Noren dedicated her career to public service in Boone County, helping shape how our community conducts and administers elections.

Beginning as a deputy county clerk in 1978, Wendy went on to serve as Boone County Clerk for 35 years. Her expertise, commitment to accuracy, and forward-thinking approach helped modernize local election systems and strengthen public trust.

Though Wendy passed away in 2018, the impact of her work continues to be felt throughout Boone County. We are honored to recognize her lasting contributions through her posthumous enshrinement in the 2026 Boone County History Makers Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame Gala is almost here!

This Saturday, we’ll gather to celebrate Carl Edwards, Wendy Noren, and the Boone County Community Trust as the 2026 Boone County History Makers Hall of Fame enshrinees.

The evening is also an opportunity to invest in the future of the Boone County History & Culture Center through our Fund-a-Need. This year, guests can help support The Montminy Gallery, preserve and digitize our historic photographs and records through the Henry “Hank” J. Waters III Digital Imaging Lab, and sustain the exhibits, educational programs, historic buildings, and collections that make the Center special.

Every gift helps us preserve Boone County’s stories, share them with new generations, and keep history and culture accessible to our community.
