Art begins where the road grows quiet....
Exploring the vibrant world of Pattachitra, one of the oldest and most expressive traditional Indian painting styles from Odisha. Characterized by flat, two-dimensional compositions, bold black outlines, traditional figures with large expressive eyes, and richly decorated borders filled with geometric motifs, Pattachitra speaks through a powerful visual language.
This work of mine introduces a gentle twist to tradition by incorporating mandala-inspired geometric patterns. Mandalas have long been used as a meditative and therapeutic practice to relieve stress, calm the mind, and allow space for reflection. This ancient art form, meeting today’s needs, offers balance, meaning, and quiet beauty in every line, enabling one to process emotions and thoughts without external pressure.
Begun during the uncertain days of COVID, this painting has finally found a quiet, framed nook in my home.
