The story of the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College (FAC) begins with the founding of the Broadmoor Art Academy by Julie and Spencer Penrose in 1919. During the Great Depression, three dedicated philanthropists – Julie Penrose, Alice Bemis Taylor, and Elizabeth Sage Hare – envisioned expanding the Broadmoor Art Academy into an entire arts district under one roof. The FAC changed its name, built a grand building, and opened as the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center in 1936. In August 2016, the FAC announced an historic alliance with Colorado College and on July 1, 2017, became the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College. The FAC is deeply rooted in the legacy of its founders, who possessed bold visions, a deep passion for the arts, and dedication to the Colorado Springs community. The FAC honors this legacy and spirit today by providing innovative, educational, and multidisciplinary arts experiences designed to elevate the individual spirit and inspire community vitality, building on its history as a unique cultural pillar of the Pikes Peak region.

🥃 Raise a glass to the flavors of Día de Mu***os!

Join us for Spirits of the Night: Tequila Tasting and Food Pairing at the Fine Arts Center on Wednesday, Oct. 28 (a 21+ event). Tequila specialist Josh Howard will guide you through the history and traditional production of tequila as you sample five unique tequilas paired with salsa and snacks, a main course, and dessert. Each guest will also receive a Día de Mu***os shot glass to take home.

What does it mean to belong to a place?

Here and Now, Then and Always is now open in the El Pomar Galleries. The exhibition draws from the Fine Arts Center’s permanent collection to explore how artists across generations have engaged with place, identity, community, and change in the region now called Colorado.

Through unexpected pairings of historic and contemporary works, the exhibition considers questions that continue to shape our understanding of this place: What do we celebrate? What do we critique? Who gets to belong? And how does a landscape change us as we change it?

Here and Now, Then and Always is on view through Feb. 27, 2027.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Come From Away at the Fine Arts Center! ❤️ Your support helped bring this powerful story of kindness, generosity, and community to life both on and off the stage.

Thanks to your incredible generosity, the FAC Theatre Company collected donations of clothing, food, suitcases, and more to support local organizations serving people experiencing housing insecurity. Those items were delivered to Partners in Housing, TESSA of Colorado, and Hope & Home to help support individuals and families in our community.

While Come From Away may have taken its final bow, its message lives on in every act of kindness. Thank you for helping us carry that spirit forward!

It's the last week to experience the Tony Award-winning musical, Come From Away, at the FAC.

The story of Come From Away extends beyond the stage. Throughout the production, we’ve been reminded of the power of kindness, connection, and showing up for one another through community partnerships, a donation drive, the Kindness Wall, and a remembrance of the lives lost on 9/11.

You can help carry that spirit of kindness into our community. Bring non-perishable food, clothing, hygiene products, diapers, or baby care items to donate and help support local families experiencing housing insecurity.
