We focus on growing community among artists, supporting their practices, and providing a venue for the public to experience and purchase artwork. We curate monthly exhibitions that are inspiring and thought provoking with a f

We are sad to lose another artist in beloved poet, Wendell Berry.
One of our exhibiting artists this September, Bailey Cecelia, clearly drew inspiration from the work of Wendell Berry, naming her show "The Peace of Wild Things". Both Cecelia and Berry use their work to speak to the importance of coexisting with nature, as a respite and source of inspiration to come back to again and again.

Surface Gallery presents: Like A Living Thing by Lindsay Goss. The exhibit opens on September 4, 5-9 pm and will be on display through September 25th.

About the artist:
Lindsay Goss is a multidisciplinary artist exploring abstraction in various mediums, including painting, textiles, film, ceramics, somatic movement, and three dimensional forms. Her practice reflects a deepening interest in the dynamic intersection of communication and the arts, including topics of introspection, self-expression, and inspired action. In 2024, she started a short documentary film project to reflect these interests and desire to support artists. Her work has been exhibited throughout the Pikes Peak region, including:Auric Gallery, Surface Gallery, Pikes Peak State College, and Medora Art Gallery. Lindsay was raised in Springfield, Missouri and has resided in Colorado for the last decade. Lindsay holds a Masters Degree in Communication from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.

About the artist:
Bailey Cecelia, is a Colorado-based artist who moved to Colorado in search of a deeper connection with nature. The landscapes and wildlife surrounding her inspires her creative practice. Working primarily in graphite on 100% cotton rag paper, she creates detailed drawings that explore the relationship between nature, imagination, and emotion through realism and subtle surrealism. Through intricate shading and texture, her work captures the quiet beauty and wonder of the natural world. She invites viewers to slow down, look closer, and discover new perspectives within familiar forms.

Surface Gallery presents: Dewdrops on a Lotus Leaf - a special edition by Gaby Oshiro.

This small collection is comprised of 8 paintings that revisits the landscape not as mere depiction, but as a territory where image and matter become one. Taking its title from Ryōkan's haiku, the surface is repeatedly built up and worn down. This process of accumulation and revelation transforms the canvas into a weathered topography, fusing layers of washi paper, sand, gold ink, collage, and décollage. The organic shapes emerge as an echo of ephemeral nature, holding a moment of stillness within the tactile strata.
