Dropping in to say hi! 👋 Meet Air Trammer No. 8! Built in 1906, this compressed air locomotive hauled ore cars deep underground in the Homestake Gold Mine in Lead, SD until retirement in 1984.

High pressure air trammers like No. 8 were the modern evolution of donkeys, eventually replaced by electric locomotives.

Plot twist: it takes a modern air compressor to run our historic machines. Our Ingersoll Rand Compressor Systems & Services from 1977 vs. now, still powering history!

🪨 Gold pans. Urgent telegrams. Five remarkable miners.

Join us on June 9th for a fascinating lecture that brings the world of early prospectors to life! Through the eyes of present-day resident and claim-holding geologist Mark Hanson, you'll explore the stories of five miners — from German immigrants to Civil War veterans and everything in between — whose diverse journeys shaped the history of exploration and fortune-seeking.

Whether you're a history buff or just love a good adventure story, this one's for you. We'll see you there! 🗺️✨
