📚 Here at the history center we love some statistics. They help us know what is working, what's not, and what people like. We pulled the bookstore data from the last five years to see what your favorite books are, and here are our top 10 (well...12 after two ties)!

📚We are very happy to learn that books focused on Old Colorado City are consistently our top sellers. Following closely behind are books about our ladies of the evening, and of course some spooky books.

📚Do you have all of these? If you don't, come check out our bookstore. These are all currently in stock except Brothels, Bordellos, and Bad Girls, which is on its way!

Currently in Washington D.C. - I'm visiting the Smithsonian National Museum of American History and I thought, what might they have of Colorado City's history? I looked at their online catalog and found some of these awesome 1898 photos of Colorado Midland railcars! Enjoy! 🚋

Spent the evening with Evergreen Heritage-Preserving History of Evergreen and Fairview Cemeteries at Evergreen helping to restore some headstones.

While other volunteers tackled resetting and cleaning stones, I was given the task of polishing up some bronze veteran plaques. The difference is really amazing, and took very little effort. If you can sit down and put oil on a rag, you can help care for the cemetery! Not everything is heavy lifting.

If you're interested in helping out or learning more, reach out to Evergreen Heritage. They meet most Mondays at 5pm. In July they will be working in Fairview.

We have rearranged the member library! Now books are shelved by subject: Railroads, Biography, Art/Photography etc. If you have a special interest, come in and see what is available. Books sign out for four weeks. We have some great summer reads.

We have almost 500 books, many of out of print, that are available for members to check out! Non-members are always welcome to use our materials on-site. However, with membership costing only the price of one new book, we think it's a great deal to sign up and take advantage of our library!

You may also email or call us ahead of time to see if we have the book you're after. We hope to have the full catalog available on our website soon!
