This is our short holiday show, and we always love it. It's a type of giveback to the community — affordable work for the people who love art and want to give it. With this in mind, we always prioritize pieces at $450 or less (for this show only).

Red, all the way through the building.

One color, and look how far it stretches. Cherry, rust, brick, blood orange, hot pink, and a few reds nobody has named yet. Cold wax, concrete and thread, glass mosaic, oil, a felted mountainside, and one canvas that is simply red and thrilled about it. Some of it shouts across the room. Some of it makes you lean in close.

Photographs give you the gist. The rooms give you the color.

Come in Thursday through Sunday and take the walk yourself.

It's up through November 8, and it's better in person — everything here is.

Artists in the wild. Part three of three.

Our field study concludes. Final sightings, each beside its own work,
each holding still just long enough.

One figure here is not a visitor either. She is out on the sidewalk
with the balloons and the hand-lettered sign, which is how the site
is marked.

The rest of the population was not photographed. The work is on the
wall either way.

Artists in the wild. Part two of three.

The habitat this season is unusually rich - concrete and thread, cold
wax, enamel on steel, a clay sculpture nesting in an antique last
rites box.

Note the posture. The subject stands beside the object it made and
tolerates the lens for as long as is required. Several have been
observed smiling.

One more resident here, caught at the front door and briefly in front
of the camera instead of behind it. She took every other photograph
in this series.

One set left.

Artists in the wild. Part one of three.

Observe. The subject approaches its own work. It holds position.
It does not flee.

The behavior is brief and occurs only under specific conditions: a
crowd, a table of snacks, a trusted photographer, like MaryKate Kearney (FB: ; IG: ).

Two of the figures in this set are resident rather than visiting.
They hang every show in this room, and one of them is in this one.

Two more sets to come.
