It's Here!
The Colfax CONNECTION, Second Edition.

It has been 46 years since The Colfax CONNECTION was first published. This second edition preserves Pat Jones's original collection of historical articles, written for The Colfax Record over a 15-year period, while incorporating updates and corrections based on current historical research.

Included in this edition is a brief biography of Pat Jones, whose lifelong commitment to preserving Colfax's history continues to inspire readers. Her dedication to accuracy, appreciation for those who helped along the way, and deep affection for the people and communities of the Colfax area are evident on every page. Her work remains an enduring legacy for future generations.

Available at the Colfax Heritage Museum - $25

What's happening with the Colfax Hotel?

Originally the Gillen Hotel, it was briefly called the Marvin Hotel in 1922 before being renamed the Colfax Hotel, owned at various times by the Gillen family and later Grandma Stone (1935), who was famous for her chicken and dumplings.

We were offered some impressive shoe repair equipment for the museum from a former Colfax resident whose father and grandfather ran a business here through the '40s. I’m hoping someone might know about his shoe repair business, or possibly have photos. Thanks!

The Colfax Museum is excited with their newest addition, this Fairbanks Dormant scale originally from the freight building on Main Street.

Fairbanks dormant scales are heavy-duty, industrial platform scales designed to be installed flush with the floor or in a shallow pit, allowing for easy, drive-on weighing of heavy cargo. Originating in the 1800s for grain elevators and railway use, these durable, mechanical, scales became the standard for industrial weighing.

If anyone can build the historical provenance for this scale, please contact the museum.
