It was another busy weekend at the museum! Dozens of guests from all over Pennsylvania and beyond took advantage of our open hours to learn more about our region's bituminous coal mining heritage and to see photos, documents, and genealogical items.

Thanks to our volunteers for enthusiastic presentations during tours and helpful assistance in locating documents and articles.

We are always seeking new volunteers to share skills, knowledge and creativity as we continue to make our museum a unique tourist attraction in the Glendale Valley Region.

Visit us Thursday and Sunday from 1 PM to 5 PM, and Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM this week. There is never an admission fee -- donations are always appreciated.

Many coal miners had artistic talents which often took the form of mining-related song lyrics performed to a banjo, guitar, or other instrument. On display at our museum is a song recorded on a Victrola where lyrics can be read while listening to the original recording.

Our museum is working to provide collections that will be accessible and appreciated by all. Check out this display and more during open hours Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM and on Sunday and Thursday from 1 PM to 5 PM. There is never an admission fee -- donations are always appreciated.

Our collections from throughout the Glendale Valley include relics from the coal mining history as well as community and school contributions.

Shown here is a painted Revolutionary War-era map of Pennsylvania from the Beaver Valley Elementary School The map shows locations of British, French and Colonial forts and troops as well as Native American tribes. It is a beautifully crafted historical piece of art. Also shown is a United Mine Workers of America Union Banner from the Blandburg Local and a coal-fired pot belly stove from a train station in Irvona.

You can see and appreciate these items and so much more when you visit our museum which is open Thursday and Sunday from 1 PM to 5 PM, and Saturday (Summer hours) from 10 AM to 2 PM. There is never an admission fee -- donations are appreciated.
