I learned about Michael's passing last night. We have lost a kind, generous, and talented local painter of whom we can be so proud, and the recipient of a major artistic legacy from the families of both his Hurd and Wyeth parents. I value my memories of painting with him and seeing him on some of our visits to the gallery. Sentinel Ranch and the Gallery will be closed for a spell.

I finally have dug out our CAS Membership form as a pinned attachment (comment) to the Artist Agreement form and have (hopefully) pinned it to the top of our page in its own right. Please feel free to copy it (hold your finger on the photo of it until you see "Save as photo" appear as an option and tap on that) and print it, fill it out, and send back to us with a check for your desired dues amount (see form) at our PO Box address given on the form. You will find the best gifts inside our 4 walls: original, one-of-a-kind art creations in every medium. Yes, Cloudcroft Christmas, over and over: Just walk next door! 🎄🎅🏼

Happy Holidays already!?!? I'm back from a painting trip in Switzerland and Italy in exquisite locales, and I went in to update my corner of our own Cloudcroft Art Society (CAS) Gallery. And it is jam-packed with bright, colorful, texture-rich evidence of top talent. Our members have outdone themselves, and their wares are literally flowing over and almost tumbling off of tables, shelves, and walls. Please help to unpack this small room!

In all honesty, I can't imagine why either locals or visitors would shop for art gifts (which are the very best gifts) anywhere but in Cloudcroft, certainly including this gorgeous and well-priced room on the main level of the Cloudcroft Library building, 10 to 3 on Saturdays. I'm so impressed - come see for yourselves, and tell others. To the end of November (and beyond if people can work and the weather cooperates ?). I have identified our gifted local artists in each of the 17 photos - please look!

Hello to friends of CAS and CAS members! The Michael Nivison Public Library is publicizing their now-annual Tiny Art competition and show. The particulars are in the flyer. I will add that they were recently looking for a couple of Judges. I have done this in the past and it's fun; I will be on a painting trip in Switzerland and northern Italy 8 - 25 Oct, so am out.
-Edited to update: Sandra Barr, Library Director, wants judges from different stakeholder roles, like community reps, not just artists - she may only select one of us artists ? 🤷🏻‍♀️ She decides - 575-682-1111, Mon - Fri 9:30 to 4:00.

Come to the Artspace at 12th and Indiana in Alamogordo during September (Fri evening Sep 5 Artists' Reception; 1 to 4 Thursdays through Sundays) to see these colorful and brilliant abstract artworks! There are paintings, but many are quilts.

We meant to post this earlier and forgot!

Today is our annual fundraiser, our CAS Patio Sale!

It is so-called from the earliest years when we spread out our donations on the patio leading into the back, north-side door into the old Red Brick building, the Library and Community and Art Center at B***o and Swallow in Cloudcroft.

But it’s essentially a Yard Sale.

Our hours today are 9 to 3, and the last couple of hours, we always mark everything down. Please come check it out! We always ‘specialize’ in paintings, reproductions, art supplies, and art books, and we’ll have those to browse, as usual, along with lots of household and garden wares (no clothes and shoes). Several members of CAS will exhibit their photography, paintings, matted reproductions, linocut prints, woodworking and woodcuts, pottery, pine-needle baskets, wood-burned and painted gourds, among other artsy gifts tailored for holiday buying, at the Cloudcroft Chamber’s annual Art and Wine in the Cool Pines held at the Sacramento Mountains Historical Museum and Pioneer Village this weekend. CAS art is always in the historical Train Depot building, by the old caboose. Days and hours: Friday August 1, 4 to 8 pm; Saturday August 2, 12 to 8 pm; and Sunday August 3, 12 to 4 pm. Remember, there will be many wineries present, art and craft booths and tables (and us!), food offerings, sometimes there are food trucks, and rousing live music! The incomparably talented Tiger Alley musicians from Austin, TX will play their accomplished Western swing, bluegrass, and hints of country, blues, and jazz Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
