The Galleries @ CSU are a non-profit, university art gallery located in the heart of Playhouse Square, on the corner of E. 13th & Euclid Ave. The exhibition space features three distinct exhibition galleries and a multi-purpose media room. Showcasing exhibitions of work by artists of national and international reputation. We offer related educational programs including publications, lectures, and

guided tours. In addition to learning from the art works on display, students get an opportunity to gain professional experience and learn job skills in the museum field, as well as non-profit administration. The Galleries @ CSU is widely recognized as a major contributor to the cultural life in the region with an annual attendance from Ohio, the United States, and abroad. The Art Gallery is graciously funded by Cleveland State University with support from the Ohio Arts Council, philanthropic foundations, the Student General Fee, and the generously Friends of the Art Gallery.

Hannah Gregory is a third year student in the Cleveland State University Department of Art & Design. Through her work, Hannah explores the intersection of labor, womanhood, identity, and collaboration. She aims to highlight the beauty, vastness, diversity, and stories of the people and places she holds close. Working closely with friends from diverse backgrounds, she says she hopes to transcend the limitations of individual perspectives and instead weave together narratives born of trust and deep appreciation.

Driven by a perpetual sense of longing, Paris uses her artwork to slow down and embrace the present. She enjoys creating prints and sculptures that act as a place for the viewer to pause and sit in the moment.

Lauren Heier is a Studio Art Major at Cleveland State University Department of Art & Design. She loves creating art that is fantastical with a dark twist. Her goal as an artist is to draw the viewer into her art and make them wonder. When discussing her work, Lauren says “Art compels me to push myself and put forth an effort to discover what I am capable of. I want to make what I see in my mind come to life with the realness of which I imagined it.”

Jurnee Ta'Zion is a Senior studying Studio Art at the Cleveland State University Department of Art & Design and minoring in Psychology. She is a Cleveland native and artist dedicated not only to creating art, but to the power it has to change and better the lives of both the creator and viewer. She began her studies at Cleveland School of the Arts prior to coming to CSU, and she has honed her skills through a multitude of mediums including drawing, printmaking, painting, and especially 3-D art and ceramics.

With her body of work, she conveys in abstract ways her lived experiences, utilizing her art forms as a means of healing, understanding, and betterment of self. She says that her works encapsulate the idea that "Life be Lifing," and that even through all the happenings throughout one's life, there are means of getting through it and of making something beautiful and helpful to you and to others. She hopes that through this display of vulnerability and growth, that others utilize the arts to discover and uplift themselves.

Come see the beautiful work of the CSU Department of Art and Design’s Haddad Merit Scholarship recipients. This year's scholars are Evan Elchert, Hannah Gregory, Lauren Heier, Erin McHugh, Paris Snyder, Jurnee Ta'Zion, and Molly Zickes. We're pleased to announce that this year the Haddad Merit Scholar Exhibitions will take place at the Yards Projects located in Worthington Yards at 725 Johnson Ct. in Cleveland's Warehouse District. Attention CSU students! The juried 52nd Annual Student Art Show is fast approaching. All currently enrolled CSU students are eligible to submit up to 4 pieces of artwork that have been produced this academic year and not exhibited in previous shows on campus. All majors welcome.

Drop-offs are April 1 – 6, 10 am – 4 pm at the Theatre & Arts Building (formerly Middough). 1901 E. 13th St., Room 503

We are thrilled to announce that this year’s show will be hosted by Bonfoey Gallery at 1710 Euclid Avenue in Playhouse Square. The show runs April 16 - May 24.
