Artist Yayoi Kusama was born in 1929. This image is a throwback to when “Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors” was on view at the CMA in 2018. Throughout her career, Kusama has produced more than 20 distinct Infinity Mirror Rooms. The exhibition, organized by the Hirshhorn Museum, was the first to focus on this pioneering body of work by presenting seven of the rooms, the most ever shown together. Did you see the exhibition? What was your favorite work?

FRONT 2021 exhibit announces creative team and theme of healing based on Langston Hughes poem

Exciting news on FRONT 2021!

“‘The show will address difficulties, wounds, things that require healing,’ Cleveland philanthropist and cultural entrepreneur Fred Bidwell, the show’s founding CEO, said in an interview before the event. But he said: ‘there’s a speculative sense of hope and optimism that change is possible.’”

The 2021 edition of the FRONT International: Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art adopted a title from a Langston Hughes poem, plus healing and transformation as its major themes.

Happy winter solstice! ❄️

In honor of the , check out photographer André Kertész's image "Washington Square, Winter." A pivotal figure in modern photography, he pioneered the use of a small, handheld camera to capture events as they happened. He transformed this stark scene into a complex, slightly abstract composition, rich with ambling elements such as trees, benches, light posts, fences, and figures walking. Cold weather got you down? Stop by the CMA to warm up and explore our galleries! https://bit.ly/2PySnR6

Fantastic evening at the CAS Annual Meeting and Dinner!!!! Many thanks to our special guest Johanna Burton, the new Director of the Wexner Center for the Arts. We were so inspired by her past work at N.Y's New Museum and her vision of the powerful role the museum can play in creating space for dialogue and positive disruption. Thanks also to our own Curator of Contemporary Art Emily Liebert for your insightful conversation with Johanna. It was a delicious evening on so many levels. Thanks to so many of our members for attending this very special (and once again, sold out) event!! Members please share your photos!
