We oversee museum space in the Larrabee Building, the Clermont Depot, the Riegel Blacksmith Shop, and the Becker House. The Clermont Historical Society is a volunteer based group that works towards saving and preserving Clermont history, partnering and sponsoring events, and maintaining and preserving three historic buildings. We operate some museum rooms in the Larrabee Building (Clermont City Ha
ll), operate the Clermont Depot, operate the Riegel Blacksmith Shop, and have recently become owner of what is known at the Becker House. Future plans for that are still in the works. We also partner with Montauk Historic Site on numerous events. We rely on community support, both financially and in terms of getting things done. If you are interested in volunteering, becoming a member, or joining our board, we would love to have you! Contact us via Facebook Messenger or email us at [email protected]. Our operations:
The Riegel Blacksmith Shop is open starting Memorial Day weekend. It is a self-guided tour and is open:
Monday-Friday, 6:00am-5:00pm
Saturday-Sunday, 8:00am-6:00pm. The Clermont Depot is usually open Memorial Day, and occasionally throughout the year. You may be able to set up a special tour however. To do this you may call our board president Arline at 563-423-5561 or Hannah at Montauk at 563-423-7173, or message us here on Facebook. The museum rooms in the Larrabee Building are usually open by appointment only. You may set up an appointment by calling our board president at 563-423-5561. Peter's Catholic School is not currently open for tours. We recently acquired this unique house and are still in the strategic planning stages of its future.
