The St. Louis Artists' Guild is proud to host The Big Draw Festival on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13, 2026! The Big Draw is the world's largest celebration of drawing, uniting people through the power of creativity.

This 2-day family-friendly event features fun, inspiring drawing activities designed to spark creativity and inspire participants through art!

New fall-inspired watercolor workshop!

Fall for Grapes - Watercolor Workshop
October 24 and 25, 2026
Saturday and Sunday, 10AM - 4PM
Instructor: Karen Romani

Fall is a time for beautiful colors and Mother Nature does a splendid job of displaying them everywhere. Join me for an adventure in watercolor, learning techniques to enhance your skills or just learn the basics of blending and use of color in this fun workshop. We will explore the principals of techniques like wet on wet and dry brushing as we develop our painting, referencing a bunch of grapes in a variety of colors. The black background is optional. On my recent trip to Tuscany, I saw some beautiful subjects to paint, but grapes caught my attention.

Students should have some experience in the use of watercolor, this is geared towards advanced beginners and experienced artists who want to hone their skills and add realism to their work.

Last week to submit your proposal for Solo Exhibitions 2027/2028!⁠
Submission Deadline: September 5, 2026 at midnight⁠

The St. Louis Artists' Guild invites proposals for solo exhibitions from emerging and established artists working in all media. Submission is free to artists.

Submission Requirements:⁠
- Artists must be within a 150-mile radius of St. Louis, MO.
- Artists must be 18 years of age or older.
- Artists must have a website (Instagram and pages do not count).
- Artists may submit one proposal.
- Artists may work with another artist to submit a proposal or a group exhibition, but will need to submit under one person's name.
- Artists who have previously exhibited a solo exhibition at STLAG must wait 5 years to exhibit again.

New portrait drawing class starting in October!

Portrait Drawing from Life
October 7 - November 4, 2026
Wednesdays, 5 Weeks, 6 - 8:30 PM
Instructor: Mel Tychonievich

This all-levels portrait drawing class focuses on strengthening foundational drafting skills through sustained drawing from the live model. Students will develop a deeper understanding of proportion, structure, gesture, and likeness while learning to observe the human head with accuracy and sensitivity. Emphasis is placed on perceptual awareness, anatomical landmarks, and the relationships between forms.

Through a combination of demonstrations, guided exercises, and extended poses, students will refine their ability to construct the basic shapes of the head, measure effectively for accuracy, and resolve complex features. Individual feedback will support each student’s growth at their own level, making the course equally beneficial for beginners building fundamentals, as well as advanced students seeking to sharpen precision and clarity in their portrait work.

The Altered Print-Mono Printmaking and Mixed Media

This class will begin with the basics of monoprinting, and then explore texture and color fields in a free and improvisational way while incorporating other media and collage to prints. Students will be encouraged to jump right in and get acquainted with the materials and processes. We will explore various printmaking techniques, collage, stencil and creative mark making to create unique prints. Students are encouraged to experiment and combine approaches, with a focus on strong composition.

This class is open to beginners and pros alike. There will be an emphasis on expressive mark making, color palette, balance, and composition.

Monoprinting is a fine art printmaking technique that creates a single, unique image by transferring a design from a smooth surface to paper.
