The Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology invites qualified researchers and specialists to participate in a short‑term, project‑based initiative focused on the identification and research potential of fossil plant collections housed at the museum.
The Alf Museum houses over 170,000 fossil specimens, many collected with the involvement of high school students from The Webb Schools, and representing key intervals from the last 100 million years of life in western North America. While the museum’s vertebrate collections are well studied, associated fossil plant collections remain largely unidentified and underutilized.
This is a paid, short-term science residency at the Alf Museum. Visiting specialists will contribute to specimen identification, documentation, and recommendations for future research. Engagements are structured around defined deliverables and timelines, not ongoing duties.
