T REX!!!

Meet the T Rex sculpted by alum Mike Trcic who worked on the ORIGINAL Jurassic Park T Rex Roberta (Robbie). This guy was amazing to see in person where Josh gave his lecture and was quite the welcomed surprise! This sculpt is massive in person being life sized and is surprisingly very scientifically accurate by todays standards. It even has feature scales as seen in other Tyrannosaurids like Albertosaurus! Josh will look into doing a more intimate overview of this beast in the future but till then, enjoy the Mike T Rex!

Its the Mike Trcic T-Rex! Mike of course if the FX artist who worked on the original T Rex animatronic "Roberta" for the original Jurassic Park!!!! Shortly after the success of the film Mike would go on to do a series of museum Paleoart pieces including this amazing piece!

We also cover a animation cel from the pop culture phenomena Dinosaucers. And we go over the behind the scenes of the Stegosaurus bust unreleased by the now defunct Chronicle Collectibles. And how we unofficially got to work on the Jurassic Park collectibles.

Rest in Peace JDF

Our President Josh wanted to share this photo from when he was doing interviews at SDCC 2014. Josh was in what was known as the "Power Rangers Lounge" and in the middle of taking photos the green ranger showed up behind him and photo bombed him while playing the dragon flute. It was the best moment lol. Josh speaks more about this day below:

I was actually having a rough day when this moment happened. I was dealing with ALOT of unprofessional entities and toxic individuals behind the scenes with alot of the organizations I was working with at the time. During this event I was actually paired with a group I didnt care for because they had a history of unprofessional behavior and their own reps were some of the worst people I've ever worked with in the convention circuit. I almost called off this gig but I learned JASON DAVID FRANK - Official Fan Page was going to be present and there was a good chance to not only meet but interview him.

Sure enough I stayed professional, did a number of interviews including the amazing cast who were slated as the current rangers for the season at that time. While I was waiting for my next interview at the lounge, Jason unknowingly sneaked behind me to check out the Ranger merch slated for release that year and photo bombed me. It was amazing.

Sadly due to the unprofessional demeanor of the group I mentioned all the footage and photos from our interview with Jason were lost due to negligence of the camera crew (The camera and memory card of all the data from SDCC was physically lost in the Colorado river....true story). On top of that my co host for the interview was rather rude, and its something I regret because Jason knew I was trying to be professional, asking real questions and was a real fan. And the other guy was a complete clown. But through the whole thing Jason stayed professional, and was a great guy. Even after the interview was over, he posed for photos with us, photos I never got to see. And even after a terrible interview, he shook my hand. I thanked him and apologized for the demeanor of the crew. And that was the last time I saw him.

I share this story not to really highlight my disappointment but to highlight how great Jason was to his fans. How he always stayed professional. He always knew who his fans were. He made time for them. And this photo is a somber reminder of my only interaction with him. I wish his family the best and hope they can heal in the middle of such a tragedy. And want to use this chance to tell you guys if your ever in a dark place, remember you have people who love you. There is always someone to talk to you, reach out and find that person.

Rest in power Jason, you were always my fave ranger.
Long live the Dragon~

JURASSIC RATING

Ahead of the spoiler review today (June 13) we are posting our ranking of the Jurassic films. From the original Stan Winston Trilogy to the newer films, here's how they stack up for us.

Jurassic Park: 10/10 The first film to start it all, Directed by Spielberg, Story by Crichton, and Dinosaurs by Stan Winston, it remains the gold standard.

The Lost World: 8/10 The first sequel and last film for both Spielberg and Crichton. Stan Winston remained to do the visual effects. Includes the nefarious raptor gymnastics scene. Ending is also cobbled together from last minute directoral choices.

Jurassic Park 3: 6/10 The one where a Raptor says "Alan". Directed by Joe Johnson who directed Jumanji. The story is the weakest here and the franchise takes a dive into "Monster Movie " and seems to never return from this point. This is the last Stan Winston film however and the dinosaur designs are gorgeous. Raptors never looked better.

Jurassic World: 5.5/10. The first of the Colin Trilogy, the story is loose and fitted around a "What if the Park opened" concept. Child endangerment galore the movie sets up in the "Monster Movie " genre from the previous film and stays there. This is evident with the introduction of hybrids, which are just movie monsters. A wrestling match dino tag team caps off the movie. Legacy FX is involved in preproduction, but a majority of dinosaur fx are farmed out and it shows.

Jurassic World FK: 4.5/10 The lowest point of the franchise. All dinosaur FX are farmed out, no involvement by Legacy FX that we would see. Story goes from catastrophe on island, to dino auction in the US, to Scooby-Doo haunted house.

Dominion: 5/10 Story is better then FK, but worse then JW. Dinosaurs are booth improved upon, and look worse visually. Not confirmed how much of Legacy was involved. What saved this movie from being rated the same as FK was the legacy cast, but their story line is flawed and keeps them below JW and the original SWS trilogy overall.

Our overall ranking of the Jurassic Park films from the original Stan Winston School of Character Arts trilogy to the newer films. Be sure to catch out live stream and spoiler review of Jurassic World Dominion on our instagram page at 12:30.

Warning, there will be spoilers. 🦗
