The Montana Department of Commerce's PCTGP (Pilot Community Tourism Development Program) is funding the new Rocky Mountain Front Interpretive Center at the Old Trail Museum! We are currently in the architectual, surveying and engineering phase of the project, with construction scheduled to begin this summer, with project completion set for next summer.

In the meantime, The Rocky Mountain Front Interpretive Center currently resides in the OTM's "OTM Schoolhouse" building, as seen in this video above, featuring OTM Board of Trustees member and PTCGP Chairwoman Bonnie Griffis. The RMFIC showcases exhibits on wildlife, ecology, meteorology, structural geology, glaciology and more, all with a focus on our spectacular Rocky Mountain Front.

The PCTGP award for the RMFIC will also allow the OTM to utilize the OTM Schoolhouse building and other buildings to expand our current and future exhibitions. Future plans for these collections include the Schoolhouse building exhibiting "Choteau Yesteryear", highlighting human history of the region since the creation of the Old Agency on the Teton in 1868, as well as expansion of our Old North Trail exhibits and Paleontology exhibits in our main museum building.

We've got our work cut out for us, but we are excited to be a part of the PCTGP program, which will allow us to better showcase the rich natural and cultural histories of the Rocky Mountain Front region.

We are pleased to announce that the Old Trail Museum has been awarded a portion of the successful bid by the Montana Dinosaur Trail and the Foundation for Montana History for the 2026 cohort of the Montana Tourism Development Grant! This is the same program that Choteau successfully bid for in 2025. Funds in Year One (2027) have been earmarked for a new ADA-compliant boardwalk to connect our buildings and new road signage. OTM will also receive many more benefits from this Montana Tourism Development grant as the five year program progresses, including new exhibits, marketing funds, tourism ambassador development and much more! Exciting times ahead for the OTM! https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/MTDOC/bulletins/410541c
