Art Works

Art Works Our name is derived from our location in the beautiful village of Chocorua, formerly known as Tamworth Iron Works, hence "Art Works."

ArtWorks Gallery/Chocorua Creative Arts Center is a NH non profit dedicated to the education, promotion and appreciation of the Arts through our gallery, workshops and events. Art Works started in 2010 at the Tamworth Farmers Market as a group of 8 artists and has grown incredibly with the help and support of our artists and community. Our name says it all, our mission is To Make Art Work For Ever

yone, the makers and the enjoyers. We function with a non-profit mentality offering a venue for local artists to display and sell their work while striving to keep overhead low and quality high. We are all volunteers working together "to bring art to the masses". Our showroom started as a 10x10 foot tent set up on Sat mornings on a 12 pitch slope making leveling and securing a harrowing experience. Despite this, it was soon obvious that we had a good thing going and the search for a display space with walls that didn' 't blow over in the Autumn breeze was soon underway. We have landed in the most gorgeous location in an antique farmhouse with views of Mount Chocorua and lots of natural light flowing through the windows enhancing the artwork displayed within. Our gallery hosts Fine Artists and Crafters from the surrounding area. It is amazing how much local talent there is in our little corner of the world. The showroom consists of large artwork to hang over your mantle to tiny tokens great for saying "Thank you" or "Just because". We have amazingly colored blown glass, heirloom furniture, wearables and jewelry, unique art cards, pottery, sculpture, and much more. We hope you will come visit and enjoy the many works we have on offer. We are open year round, weekends only in the Winter and 7 days a week in the Summer. We are always willing to try and accommodate if you need a gift and we are not open, call and we will arrange a meeting. We offer gift certificates and will set up gift registries. Both excellent options to help ensure the perfect gift.

What a wonderful month it was for our fourth annual Tiny Art Show!

This year’s exhibit was a big success, with tiny works of art displayed throughout the gallery during the month of May and so many visitors enjoying the creativity of young student artists from Tamworth’s Kenneth A. Brett School.

We are especially excited to share that 14 young artists sold their Tiny Art pieces over the course of the exhibit. Each student chose their own title and price, and all proceeds from each sale went directly to the artist. It was a joy to support these budding young artists and give them the experience of showing and selling their work in a real gallery setting.

We also want to congratulate Tatum, who filled out a gallery scavenger hunt card during the reception and won our drawing for an art supplies kit. Tatum was so excited to win, which made the moment even more special. Enjoy your art supplies, Tatum!

A big thank you to KA Brett School art teacher Angela Driscoll for her continued support in making this opportunity possible, and to The Preserve at Chocorua for generously sponsoring this year’s show.

Congratulations to all of the young artists who participated. We loved sharing your creativity with the community!

June First Friday Reception and Month-Long Exhibit

ArtWorks Gallery is excited to welcome the Friday Painters for our June Guest Exhibit, on display June 5 through June 29.

The Friday Painters program is a long-running, free community program sponsored by ArtWorks and the Mt. Washington Valley Arts Association. From May through November, artists gather at a different local location each Friday morning to paint, draw, and create together in a welcoming, relaxed setting. All community members are welcome to check out the schedule and give it a try themselves.

This exhibit gives participants a chance to share both studio and onsite works created through the program, and we’re thrilled to help provide an outlet for their talent and creativity.

Join us for the Opening Reception on Friday, June 5, from 5 to 7 pm at ArtWorks Chocorua Creative Arts Center. Enjoy art, food, libations, fun, and an art door prize for one lucky winner.

A wonderful reminder that the arts do more than inspire us. They may also support our health and well-being in meaningful ways.

Eat well and exercise. That's the classic advice for living a long, healthy life. A new study suggests another habit to add to the list: Let your creative juices flow.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night for the opening reception of our fourth annual Tiny Art Show!

This month-long May exhibit features young student artists from Tamworth’s Kenneth A. Brett School, with tiny canvases displayed throughout the gallery. Each piece shows the creativity, personality, and imagination of the student who made it. Every artist chose their own title and price, and when a piece sells, all proceeds go directly to the student.

Congratulations to local student Tatum, who won the scavenger hunt prize of a new art supplies kit, and congratulations to community member Jeanne, who became the new owner of one of Matt Cohen’s owl photograph prints during the reception!

One of the things we love most about this exhibit is the chance to support budding young artists and give students a real gallery experience. It’s a wonderful reminder that creativity starts early, and opportunities like this can help young artists feel proud of their work and excited to keep creating.

A big thank you to KA Brett School art teacher Angela Driscoll for her continued support, and to The Preserve at Chocorua for generously sponsoring this special exhibit.

Stop by ArtWorks during the month of May to see the Tiny Art Show in person and maybe take home a tiny piece of art of your own. We are open Thursday through Monday, 10–5, at 132 White Mountain Highway, Route 16, in Tamworth, NH.

Huge shoutout to our ArtWorks artists who took part in the Arts Council of Tamworth’s 2nd Annual “Battle of the Brushes” spring fundraiser at Public House on Page yesterday.

Congratulations to ArtWorks’ own Pat Goodwin, JP Goodwin, Carol Phenix, and Stephanie Kenney, with a special nod to Pat for taking the win and JP for finishing as a finalist!

Guests got to watch the artists paint live across two rounds, creating brand new pieces right in front of the crowd. All artwork from the evening is available through silent auction, with proceeds including ticket purchases supporting the Arts Council of Tamworth’s programs.

Such a fun local event, and a wonderful showing by artists affiliated with ArtWorks!

ArtWorks Members Showcasing Their Work

ArtWorks member and printmaker / fiber artist Robin Cornwell just had a piece of hers accepted into the New Hampshire Arts Association (NHAA) show, “Crème de la Crème," which will be held at the Art Center in Dover, NH May 12-June 30. This is a juried show for the NHAA and is their 5th annual member's exhibition. Members of The Art Center and the NH Art Association are invited to submit their “best of the best” works.

Robin says her piece (pictured) is titled “Feather Collector”, based on her habit of collecting feathers wherever she roams!

Congratulations, Robin!

The Art Center is located at 1 Washington Street in Dover, NH. If you are in the area, stop by and check out Robin's piece in person and see what else is showcased.
