πͺ Circusville opens NEXT WEEK on Thursday, January 25! πͺ
Have you ever wondered what it's like to swing from a trapeze bar? Have you ever tried to dazzle an audience with your spinning plates skills, or dared to explore a new point of view from a high pair of stilts?
Circusville: Play Under the Big Top lets littles explore all of that, and more! Whether they take on the role of acrobat or ticket taker, every child can express themselves, unleash their imaginations, embrace new challenges and shine!
On Monday, January 15 from 10 am to 5 pm, join Chicago Children's Museum to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King with a story lounge and special print-making workshop in Art Studio!
If you can't join us in person, explore digital resources on our website like this one to encourage reflection and conversation at home with your littles. Read along with CCM friends to learn about the contributions of Dr. King, Rosa Parks, Ruby Bridges and African American inventors who have touched our everyday lives!

What can you create in Tinkering Lab? A group of four tiny tinkerers, accompanied by their au pair Leticia, constructed a π magnifying glass, πͺ maraca, πΌοΈ picture frame, and π "wire plug" (in the words of the youngest).
During their first visit to Chicago Children's Museum (and to Chicago) from St. Louis, these littles let their imaginations run free as they crafted unique creations in Tinkering Lab!
This #GivingTuesday, give the gift of play with a donation to Chicago Children's Museum, so we can continue providing playful learning experiences for problem-solvers, learners, make-believers and their caregivers.

A few weeks ago, Chicago Children's Museum Educators had the opportunity to learn more about woodworking with Chicago Furniture Restoration Owner, Joseph Budka. Joseph has more than 15 years of experience designing, building, and restoring furniture and has been a visiting artist at CCM!
π¨ Our Educators learned more about tool safety, and how to plan and execute woodworking projects.
π¨ Everyone got to create their own functional piece, like a glasses caddy, hat rack, or shadow box.
π¨ Educators tinkered and problem-solved with tools like hammers, nails, handsaws and power drills! These are tools that we are looking to bring to #TinkeringLab for future workshops.
These training opportunities are a vital way to engage staff in playful learning to grow and thrive as makers, educators, explorers and professionals... so we can create a space where play and learning connect!
