Happy 15th birthday to the @burjkhalifa 🎉 Today marks 15 years since the Burj Khalifa officially opened on January 4, 2010. At 828 meters (2,722 feet), it remains the tallest structure ever built! Located in Downtown Dubai, its architecture reflects the harmonious blend of form and function with its unique triple-lobed design inspired by the Hymenocallis flower. Designed by Adrian Smith of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the structure incorporates cutting-edge technology, including its wind-tunnel-tested shape that minimizes sway and its state-of-the-art cladding system with 103,000 square meters of glass to endure the desert's scorching sun while maximizing energy efficiency. Built with 330,000 cubic meters of concrete and 39,000 metric tons of steel, the tower took over 22 million work hours to complete. With over 160 levels, the Burj Khalifa is home to luxury residences, corporate offices, the Armani Hotel Dubai, and the famous At the Top observation decks on floors 124, 125, and 148. Level 148 holds the title of the world’s highest observation deck. Each year, millions of visitors ascend in one of its high-speed elevators to soak in views of the sprawling city, desert, and the Arabian Gulf. This New Year’s Eve at the Burj Khalifa was nothing short of breathtaking. Themed “Harmony, Sustainability, and Growth,” the light and firework extravaganza combined vibrant LED animations with fireworks launched from the tower itself, perfectly synchronized with a stirring musical score.
