Chester Historical Society promotes Chester’s rich heritage by preserving its historical places, documents, written and oral history.

We provide educational programs to our schools and community on our local history. 1915 Erie Railroad Station Museum:
The Chester Historical Society holds its monthly meetings on the second Thursdays of the month. It is handicapped-accessible. Annual events held at the museum include: the Chester Historical Society's annual yard sale fundraiser, the community tree lighting, celebrating the holiday

s with the museum open for special exhibitions. With its location on the Heritage Trail, several charity walks/runs utilize the museum's hospitality yearly. 1915 Erie Station Museum normally open 10 am to 3 pm Saturdays & 1-3 pm Sundays, May through October. Check for special holiday hours schedules. Office-archive at 93 Brookside Ave. - most Thursdays 1-4 pm and by appointment - email [email protected].

🇺🇸 The Revolution Came to Newburgh.

Join us September 17 at 7 PM at the Crawford House for an evening exploring Newburgh’s role in the Revolutionary War.

Liam Mitchell of Washington’s Headquarters State Historic Site will take us into the people, places, and events that put Newburgh at the center of the final years of the Revolution.

The historic William Rysdyk House at 19 High Street is currently being offered for sale.

This beautiful property was once the home of William Rysdyk and Hambletonian 10, the legendary stallion whose influence helped shape the Standardbred horse breed. It is a home with a remarkable place in Chester’s history—and in the history of American harness racing.

We are sharing this realtor’s video so others may appreciate the beauty, character and historical significance of this special property.

We are so grateful to everyone who came out, toured the exhibits, watched the short films, shared stories, and helped make the day so special.
