Like-minded folks discussing old, odd and unusual items! The Chelsea Historical Society held their Annual Meeting on Wednesday evening. Society President Joe Spinella examines the unknown item brought in by Jack Ducharme. Tapered wooden post with a handle on the top and on the side set into an iron base.....any ideas out there? Our first Open House at the Lewis House Museum, 330 VT Route 110, will be on Saturday May 30, 11 am - 3 pm. We will also be having a yard sale that day with items donated by Bob Somaini from the East Barre Antique Mall. His store has gone out of business and he graciously donated many items to benefit the Historical Society. Our regular monthly Board Meetings are held at the Chelsea Public Library on the second Wednesday of each month from 6:30 - 8 pm. If you have an interest in history please join us.

Rockets and space travel often conjure futuristic thoughts … we are sharing an historic postcard image that we’ve posted before, created back in 1910. Here is our hometown Barre, with creative ideas about our future, including a subway station to NYC in front of the library and all kinds of aircraft. Kick back and enjoy a glass of Tang and some space-age dreams!

**Update to the name on the photo. Thanks to Adam Boyce In suggesting the name Erskine. In FamilySearch I found a Martin C. Erskine (M.C.) from Williamstown who married a Myrtie Lucus born in Washington, living in Corinth at the time of the marriage 12/30/1892. There's always more questions....does anyone know what years H.L. Bixby was taking photos in Chelsea? Maybe the house photos are in Williamstown as well.......**

Received mystery mail 3/2 that included two photos of houses, and a photo by H.L. Bixby (Chelsea photographer). I don't recognize the name on the back (M.C. Euhive?), there was nothing on the back of the house photos. Check out the traverse sled in one photo. There is a sign on the post in front of the white house, and check out the large lamp on the side of the barn/garage. Does anyone recognize the houses, or the name of the man in the photo?

In response to an inquiry, I found this biography.
