Booksale & Author signing following presentation
Falkowski, who grew up in Sloan and now lives in Williamsville, began writing in 1981. He has previously published two books: “History of Buffalo Music and Entertainment” and “Profiles Volume I: Influential People from Buffalo & WNY - the 1800s,” also dealing with local history. “Profiles Volume II - Historic & Influential People from Buffalo & WNY – the Early 1900s,” has recently been released. Come visit our exhibit at the Erie County Fair Julia Boyer-Reinstein Historical Building. Out theme is Remembering magician Eddie Fechter at the Fork's Hotel. "Forks" is the hamlet in then downtown Cheektowaga where all roads and the NYC railroad "forked" together and intersected. Union Path, Ellicott & Batavia (Broadway) Roads met at the railroad station. The Forks hotel was located here for travelers stopping over. Forks Fire Company and once Forks, NY postal station, St. Stephen's Evangelical Church Home for the Aged and the Town Hall are located here, as well.

I'm looking for information , records, maps, pictures, and stories of the relocation of Slate Bottom Creek that happened in the 1960's . Twelve years ago I bought a home on French Road with the creek as my northern property line. the creek runs straight as an arrow east and west ( More like a canal not a creek ) When I look back at old areal photos and maps of the area the creek has a completely different path. I've call the army corp of engineers and nobody there could tall me a thing about the how and why, they did however agree that it has been relocated. So I'm trying to find out how it all came about. This is a picture of the creek from my back yard, and yes we have water and fish in the creek all year. ( French near Borden)

Suggestions please. This person died in nov 1930 at the gowanda state hospital. Death cert says she buried at pine hill. When i did research on pine hill, i read that it became part of the united French and german cemetery...part of my calvary group now. I went there and they have no record of her. They even looked to see if she was buried with her son-in-law. The entire family was quite destitute. The son in law is buried in a single grave with no marker at ridge lawn/mt calvary. Her one daughter (wife of son in law) also died at gowanda state (she is buried in the old state hosp cemetery/catholic section) off wheater). Her other daughter died before her and is buried at holy cross in lackawanna (single grave/no marker her funeral/blessing of the co**se as records state was at an Irish catholic church in bflo). This woman came from ireland. There was no newspaper listing of her death. I am also pretty confident she is buried in the buffalo area and not collins because the undertaker was on broadway in bflo. Any suggestions or insight on where/what this cemetery is?
How do you become a member?
Is there any information about the old Sal's on union Rd. Great root beer and Italian sausage sandwiches from my youth.
