The Alice T. Miner Museum holds a diverse collection of furniture, ceramics, textiles, books, manusc Established in 1924, the Alice T. Miner herself.

Miner Museum houses a rich collection of Early American furniture, textiles, ceramics, and other decorative arts. The twelve period rooms of this reconstructed 1820s stone building offer a glimpse into Alice Miner's vision of the past and the Colonial Revival movement of the early 20th century. Visitors will also get to know Alice T. Learn about her life in turn-of-the-century Chicago and at Heart's Delight Farm here in Chazy, and about the philanthropic work she and her husband, William H. Miner, carried out in the North Country.

We had such an incredible evening with Meg Muckenhoupt last night learning about the development of New England foodways! If you were intrigued by her lecture--or sadly had to miss it--we'll be reading her book for the October meeting of Book Club at the Alice: The Truth About Baked Beans at the end of this month. And if you're looking for more talks to attend, our October local history lectures will be a blast. We're less than a week out now from Meg Muckenhoupt's visit to discuss her book The Truth About Baked Beans: An Edible History of New England, and we can't wait to hear about the food history she describes in it. The talk will be accompanied by "New England foods" including a baked bean taste test featuring three "traditional" bean recipes, so come ready to nibble!

We're down to the last few weeks before our Centennial Fair on the Alice grounds, celebrating 100 years of the Alice and of CVPH and raising funds for the Women & Children's Center that bears Alice's name. And we're down to the last few weeks of collecting pieces for our CENTENNIAL ART AUCTION!

Pieces will be in the Alice's ballroom for viewing and bidding from the day of the Fair on Sept. 19th through Oct. 22d; interested artists should drop their work off at the Alice by Sept. 14th, or contact Leni at [email protected] with any questions!
