Artist Spotlight Part 2: Kathleen Dunphy’s work is inspired by a deep connection to the natural world - from quiet landscapes and changing light to wildlife observed in its natural environment. Painting both outdoors and in the studio, her work captures the atmosphere, color, and movement that make each moment feel alive.

Artist Spotlight Part 1: Kathleen Dunphy

Nearly two decades after being recognized as one of America’s Top Ten Emerging Artists,
her work continues to earn national acclaim.

Dunphy holds signature status with many of the nation’s leading art organizations, including the California Art Club, Oil Painters of America, the American Impressionist Society, and the Society of Animal Artists

Before fully dedicating herself to fine art, Kathleen owned a floral design business while traveling the world with her husband during his Air Force career

In 2012, she was invited to join the prestigious Plein Air Painters of America, later serving as vice president from 2016 to 2017.

Her paintings have been featured in distinguished museum exhibitions and invitational shows across the United States, while her work continues to appear in leading fine art publications

Whether painting outdoors en plein air or creating larger studio works, Dunphy approaches each subject with deep observation and emotional connection.

Her fascination with wildlife, changing light, and the natural landscape brings a quiet sense of movement and life to every composition.

On this, we might disagree with Miranda—we are happy with florals anytime.
You know she was a floral designer before turning to painting full time!

Available Paintings:
Lupine and Sweet Peas
Here Comes Spring
Both gouache on paper

A few favorites from the gallery that caught my eye lately. Each piece brings something different, whether it’s the atmosphere, the light, or the story behind it. These are the works I keep coming back to and noticing something new every time.

Come take a look and see which one speaks to you.
