Dawes County Historical Museum The Dawes County Historical Museum. The new Marcus Cain building contains inventions of local farmer Marcus Cain. Food, animals, fun for the whole family!

The Dawes County Historical Museum includes a log house, toy room, barber shop in Carpenter's Cove building dedicated to Dean Carpenter, barn, 1890s schoolhouse, pioneer church and C&NW caboose. The FOURTH SUNDAY in SEPTEMBER is always HISTORY IN ACTION DAY. Wheat grinding, milk separating, wool spinning, corn shelling, potato digging have all been features over the years.

Thank You to an amazing cast for your portrayals of several of Chadron's forefathers/mothers. Hearing the stories of those before us gave us a glimpse of early Chadron. Videos of the performances will be uploaded in the near future.
