Our next meeting of the HPS will be on Thursday August 27, 2026 at 6pm. It is always on the last Thursday of every other month!
The program will be led by a young man that I met at the Coffee ☕️ Shop downtown Centre. He is Sam Moses from Rome Ga and he is actively involved in historical projects in West Rome.
He is on the board of the old historical Sardis Church on the left side of the road going into Rome. He has done extensive work on the old cemetery beside the Church building and is currently working on other projects.
His program will be about an old Civil War fued between 2 families in the Cedartown area and it ended up spilling over into East Alabama before it was finished. The 2 families are the Colquitt-Prior and the resulting vendetta ride into Alabama.
It is like an old Wild West story that happened right here in our neighborhood during the last days of the Civil War.
Everyone please make every effort to attend and I am challenging each one of us to bring a visitor!
See you there!
David Lee, Chaplain and program coordinator!
