After a meeting of our board of directors, we made the difficult decision to remain closed through the month of June. We are continuing to monitor the situation in the area and hope to see you in July.

Well, last night / early this morning certainly was rough.

Joanne and I, being from Florida, treated it like a hurricane prep to secure lose items and hunker down. We were up until 4 am this morning watching weather maps and listening to updates.

Seneca was hit hard, lots of damage, at least one life lost.

Our members have been checking in from all over the Upstate this morning, letting us know they are safe.

We hope all of you are as well.

Stay in unless you absolutely need to be out - the less cars / people around the easier it is for utilities and public safety to do their thing.

04/13/2020

We really hope everyone had as enjoyable day as possible.

Dreary and rainy, but hopefully good.

Tonight, if you are in the southeast, batten down the hatches, it is going to be a rough night with the storms rolling through.

Be safe everyone.

Good evening to our members and followers.

Enclosed, you will find the link to the April 2020 Newsletter: https://www.crmha.org/news-events/

As always, you can view it right on the webpage or you can view it, and all the past issues on the Archives page: https://www.crmha.org/news-archives/

I received an email today from Club President, Dan Marett, stating that we would be closed this coming weekend, hopefully the info I posted in the Newsletter is not me jumping the gun, but with all the mandates regarding gatherings and such, it seems that the Museum is under them as well.

We will continue to monitor the Local, State and National orders and we will reopen at such a time that is appropriate and safe to do so.

I will also continue to update the page, https://www.facebook.com/centralrailwaymuseum, as well as the Museum's webpage with updates.

I hope you all enjoy the Newsletter.

We can't say it enough. TRAIN.TRACKS.ARE.NOT.PLAYGROUNDS.OR.PHOTOGRAPHY.STUDIOS.

This situation could have been tragic so very quickly. Heck, it already was quick.

Stay off the tracks, pay attention at crossings, ALWAYS expect a train!

Parents and photographers, please read this story on why you should never use train tracks for a photo session: https://bit.ly/2UkIn0d #seetracksthinktrain

Many of us are using our new found time we have to do a little work on our model railroads.

What projects are on your workbench right now?

Personally, I am building the benchwork for my N Scale layout, using modular bases from Sievers Benchwork that I acquired from the club - Wayne.

Just to give all of our friends as much notice as we can, the Central Railway Museum will remain closed to the public during the COVID-19 health crisis.

We are following best practices set in place by many other Municipalities and business to limit social interactions for the health and safety of all our members and guests.

We are deeply sorry for any inconvenience and hope that this need passes quickly..

03/12/2020

In an abundance of caution for our members and visitors, the museum will not be open this coming Saturday, March 14th.

Any further changes to our operating schedule will be announced as those decisions are made.

We apologize for any inconvenience and hope you all understand.

So, rumor has it there was a Train Show in Easley today. Judging by the weather and these kids making snowmen and having a snowball fight outside the venue, there was as much fun to be had outside as there was inside.

The 2020 CRM&HA Train Expo is officially a wrap. Thank you to all who came out to visit and have a great weekend of crazy weather.

Collector Notice: We received a good size donation of HO Scale Marklin 3 Rail model trains. This stuff is from the 1950's. 2 working European locomotives, track, wagons, 1 working and 1 non working transformer.

All in one box, available next week at the CRM&HA Company store. $200 takes the whole thing.

We do not want to break this up. This is some pretty good looking stuff, as I saw it today.

Vintage gear at a great price. Get it, and many other goodies at our Train Expo next week!

For those that enjoyed the KidZone at last years show, you may remember that Thomas and Friends were a bit temperamental at times. Last week Club members Jesse and Rich replaced and relaid all the track, as well as rewired the whole setup.

Thomas and Friends also got some much needed attention mechanically. They should be much better for the kids this year.

Welcome to 2020 - a new year and a new decade.

As most of us are model railroaders, what was your last purchase of 2019 and what are you looking forward to most coming in 2020?

For me, my last buy was n scale NS SD60E's 9-1-1 and 6920. I am looking forward most to the groundbreaking on my home layout.

So, most of us remember running Lionel trains around the Christmas tree, how about a Layout for next to the tree this year?

Periodically, the CRM&HA receives layouts as part of donations and this one is a monster. According to Jim, he and Sage moved this 27,000 lbs beast on the hottest day of the year earlier this summer. Not sure it really weighs that much, but who am I to argue.

If you are interested in a very well built starter O-27 Gauge layout, this might be for you. Cost is pretty fair too - $40 and with that you get a free year membership to the CRM&HA.

How do you join the CRMHA ?
is this a trade show and if so, how much for a dealer's table?
As my son Nathan is a member of the club, and I as his "driver", I would like to share this with you all. Many of you have met my Father in Law, Ken Murdock. He has been the curator for the Central Florida Railroad Museum in Winter Garden, Florida for 32 years+. You are all welcomed to visit their museum in your travels to the west side of Orlando. https://www.cfrhs.org/ Recently, they added on to their facility and gave Ken a very special honor. Please take the time to review this clip and visit their fb page and website. Its great to see men like him and all of you preserving such a great history for us and our children. https://www.facebook.com/CentralFloridaRailroadMuseum/videos/2251397194892813/?t=1
What all is entailed in this motor car trip? Not familiar with these, but have always wanted to ride in one. Thanks for any/all info forwarded...
