• Saturdays – 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM (when we’ve got everything up and running)
Whether you want to help out, learn something new, or just soak up the atmosphere, you’re always welcome. Hope to see you soon!

Cub Scout Pack 145 from Walhalla lit up the Central Railway Museum tonight! 🚂✨
What an awesome evening! We welcomed 32 enthusiastic Cub Scouts (and their leaders/families) who had an extraordinarily great time exploring the museum. Watching their eyes light up made it all worthwhile.
Highlights that had everyone buzzing:
• Those classic RPO mail bag pickups — pure joy every time!
• Kids (with careful supervision, of course) trying their hand at throwing the manual switch stand on the floor
• And a special shout-out to Brian… whose rocket got launched somewhere in the neighborhood of 67… or was it 97? times 🚀 (anyone catch the exact number? Drop other fun stats in the comments!)
The energy was fantastic, and we’re pretty sure we’ll be seeing some of these same excited faces back on regular Saturdays. That’s the best part of nights like this.
Huge thanks to Cub Scout Pack 145 Walhalla for spending the evening with us, and to everyone who helped make it such a fun, memorable visit.
Come see us soon — the trains (and the rocket) are ready for more explorers! 🛤️

Yesterday was an absolute thrill ride through The Town of Central, S.C.😄 We got so caught up watching the Norfolk Southern inspection train—those two stunning 250th anniversary heritage units on the front were a real treat—that we completely blanked on sharing the Loram maintenance of way rail grinder that came through right before it. Our bad!
This beast was hard at work smoothing the rails and keeping everything in tip-top shape, and it was a pretty cool sight rolling straight through town. Sorry for the hold-up, but better late than never!

Wow! Look at what we caught running through The Town of Central, S.C. this afternoon! Norfolk Southern OC train with America 250 units leading! 8118 “The Stars & Stripes” leading with 1776 “The Bell” right behind and 30 Marco Polo bringing up the rear!

This past Monday and Tuesday, our museum had the pleasure of welcoming several local Boy Scout troops as they worked toward earning their Railroad Merit Badge. It was a great opportunity to introduce these young men to the rich history of railroading and give them some hands-on learning. This was our first time, and we’re really encouraged by the interest. We hope to make sessions like this a regular offering for scout troops across the region. Big thanks to the scouts, the scout leaders, and our museum volunteers for making it such a success. If your scout troop is interested in earning the Railroad Merit Badge with us, we’d love to hear from you.
