Do you know what to do if your vehicle stalls on the tracks?

1. Get out of your car and away from the tracks immediately (even if you do not see a train)
2. Locate the Blue and White Emergency Notification System sign
3. Call the number provided for help

No sign, call 911.

OPERATION LIFESAVER

Biking this summer? Railroad crossings require extra care on two wheels.

Slow down near tracks. Cross only at designated crossings and cross tracks at a 90-degree angle when possible.

Always expect a train. Trains are quieter and faster than you think.

SC OPERATION LIFESAVER
The ENS sign has a vital role to play to when a vehicle is stuck on or near the tracks. That's why we've named June 24 ENS Sign Awareness Day.

Calling the 800 number on the Emergency Notification System (ENS) sign connects you to the railroad personnel who can stop an approaching train.

IF you're vehicle is stuck on the tracks, first GET OUT. If a train is not approaching find the blue and white sign and call the number.

Yesterday we said goodbye to our great friend and colleague Bob Folsom, an incredibly talented individual who mentored so many of us. His guidance, creativity, and kindness left a lasting mark. He always called the Central Railway Museum a world-class organization, and the team is committed to carrying forward the work he and so many others started, keeping it exactly that. Rest easy, Bob—you’ll be deeply missed.

Last night’s op session was a blast! We had a huge turnout and ran some fun scenario cards that had members discovering spots on the HO layout they’d never even seen before. Great runs, lots of laughs, and awesome teamwork — such a fun night! Thanks to everyone who showed up. Can’t wait for the next one!
